Rikki 2
Check again with vagcom....if it still says left rear...then its probably your ecu!
Lukey. 381
have you been for a drive? i changed an abs sensor and it came on then went off after about 5 miles.
ginga_d 0
Just had it plugged in again erased the same fault again and then drive down the road on it comes again. Could it be the abs pump or ecu how can I find out please mot due in 3 weeks
Gazbarber1982 3
Clean the ring thats on the back of the disc and make sure that it's all straight and spaced the same all the way round. Could also be too far away to read. If you put it on vacom, and goto measure blocks you can check the speed of the wheels acording to the 4 sensors.
coyney 0
Is the abs still working? My abs keeps cutting in and out but on it's own! Had sensors And rings checked all ok but still happening!

xyber 1
Abs light will reset once fixed above a certain speedI had several abs faults and each time it was a chaffed sensor cable
jimmyb 2
abs is a pain in the ass on vr`s. (they would be better without!!!)
bairda 0
After several years of tinkering with the ABS system because the light kept coming on, the whole system needs replacing on my car. Not worth it at the price quoted. Anyone know how to get the parts cheap? I'm told this is a frequent problem on VR6's. true?
VR6Nat 9
ive not heard of the whole system needing replacement, just the abs pump or the sensors usually... who said its the whole system and what have they tried replacing before??
vr6_super 0
fyi i had an abs problem when I got the car and took it to local garage who said it was the sensor. got a sensor and swapped it over and the light was still on. then took it into volkswagen garage and they said the wires were rubbing against the driveshaft thus the signal wasnt getting from a to b apparently. they fixed the wires and voila no more light on.funnily enough tho recently my airbag light, which was always on as i have an aftermarket wheel, suddenly goes off now after starting the car woohoo
Rikki 2
If you get a rear sensor fault and changing the sensor doesnt clear it, under the rear seats is where they plug in swap the plugs from left to right if the fault still says the same side then its your ecu if the fault swaps it is more than likely the sensor. This is for obd2 cars only as the ecu is sepearte on earlier cars
psilosimon 8
Abs light will reset once fixed above a certain speedI had several abs faults and each time it was a chaffed sensor cableI changed a sensor on my Mk3 Gti. As you say it reset after a while, but I was told the car had to fire up several times before it reset. Now I have to sort out Abs on my VR. the light is staying on. I may be able to pinch a sensor off my Gti, depends which one it is I suppose. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable?
