theblueflash 0
ive got one of these on my vri believe its the original alarm but its doing strange things and wanted to ask a few of you if any issues have been heard of before.firstly the range on the fobs are useless, even with fresh batteries.- if i lock then unlock the windows will roll down. sometimes both side sometime one or the other.- if i lock the car with the fob, then unlock with the key, the alarm should sound. no alarm. but there is a clicking sound coming from the dash and the red light blinks. (siren knackered?)any help on this would be greatly appreciated as its pretty annoying not knowing how it works and the windows rolling dowm when its pouring with rain!!cheers
theblueflash 0
no help so far from any places ive asked. had someone tell me that its a cheap alarm made in italy. company now bust. which is prob a blessing as just replacing the siren with an original or aftermarket wouldnt keep me happy. its really getting on my tits now. the fobs, even with new battteries just dont seem to work v.well. I stood in the heavy rain for almost 5 minutes the other day trying to get into my car. was pushing the button so many times i managed to unlock then lock it straight away! Grrrrr!!! just seem to work when it wants to. distance is poor but on occasion it will work from about 3 yards max. so. when i get my car up to scratch id like a new alarm. nothing fancy just a solid all rounder. cat 1 obviously. but preferably with full closure as an option so nothing changes. throw me your suggestions please. what have you got? like it? *edit* should prob mention i dont want to spend a fortune on it. £200 seems reasonable. and i reckon i could wire it in myself, so exclude fitting in that pricecheers

Lukey. 381
id prob have got the toad myself but was in a rush as the laser alarm my car came with unlocked itself and went off and allsorts and as id just bought the car didnt have the funds for toad, i got a clifford hornet maxx2 which to be fair is a very good alarm and can distinguish very well between an unnecesary disturbance and an actual threat, the only bad thing i can say actually is the arm/disarm is very loud and annoys the hell outta me
theblueflash 0
turns out the siren is faulty on this system but the system is not faulty. the window opening is confusing but getting used to it now. the reason it was working intermittantly was a faulty vac pump. it stopped working completely when i got back from holiday and i opened it up and got a massive whiff of burnt electrics. water had got in through the light and dripped in. so everytime i unlocked and locked the car it was gradually cooking the circuitry in the pump. the board was black in one corner and the motor was completely fryed!popped another pump in from the scrappy and it works everytime. dont even have to get aggresive with the fob. good place to check 1st if you've got central locking issues i think
