supercharger v turbo v twin turbo

One is not better than the other... Horses for corses... What are you trying to do and what is your budget..

You can plug and play a charger system where as you may need to do more work and BHP dependant you will need a higher bank balance..

But you can achieve similar numbers via both systems. it is all about drivability and what you are doing it for... balls out drag?/track days?street ride?

Do a search on here and you will find threads about them how to install them and who does what as a manufacturer etc..

I'll bet!!

Quite a handy motor for boost the R32 as it's intake changeover point coincides with the boost starting, so you get the best of both worlds :-)

Just a shame there isn't a metal version of that plastic intake though....which still has the variable gubbins in it.

I agree with everyone above, its all done to personal preference. Do you want progressive power with max power at the red line? Do you want a kick in the back at 3500rpm? Do you want that kick, but with twice the work involved? It all down to you. See if you can befriend someone that has a charged vr, and go out in it to make your mind up, s/charger or tub.

big single turbos tend to make more power or have the potential to make more power .. twin turbos have less lag but would be pointless on a FWD car. 2 small turbos spin up more quickly than a big single and can flow more that a mid single turbo. but its a lot more work and money.

id love 4 wheel drive twin turbo 400bhp

fwd your probably better off with a single big turbo

for a high power drag car you want one massive turbo

the advantage of a supercharger is easy of install. could end up cheaper possibly more suited to a track car due to smoother power delivery. but a turbo car is always going to be faster and feel faster with the kick in the back

x 2 :) my thoughts exactly - all comes down to personal preference - and pathetic though it may be the noise was one factor in my decision and have had so many peeps with turbos chargers etc say how nice my car sounds I always know I made the right decision :) plus 280 bhp at 5 psi speaks for itself ! :)

puts me off turboing my car. still love the sound but i wouldn't want to loose the VR burble.. which i think you keep with a charger?

yeah you sure do mate :) love the turbo sound too just was after something a bit more "aggressive" if you want and more head turning as I am a bit of a show off so wanted a charger whine to go with the deep sound of a VR and thats what I got :)

turn your speakers up :) :)

Mine sounds fantastic.......especially when the wastegate chatters

He he, that is the most common misunderstanding about turbos :-) Wastegates don't make a noise. Well, correctly installed ones of a decent brand don't at least.

Compressed air bouncing backwards off the throttle plate and over the compressor blades is what makes the noise :-)

People pay money to deliberately shorten their turbo life to get that noise :-)
