Advancing Milage on OBD11 VR6 Golf

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have sourced some replacement clock for my VR and they do not have the correct milage (naturally).

Is there a way of ADVANCING the mileage on the new clocks, VW seemed to be able to do it but wouldnt ? I have tried both my local VW garages.

Can anyone lend a hand, is this something that can be done with Vag-Tacho?

Really appreciate any help, having a rev counter which doesnt work is driving me insane !

Thanks

Jamie

hmmm ... regardless of whether the mileage runs off the coilpack, when the new clocks are plugged in, they display the mileage from another car.

The mileage of the coilpack is not really a useful indicated of the mileage anyway surely, I know for a fact that my coilpack is lot newer than my engine.

I have seen that thing on ross-tech but it doesn't look like something i want to get involved with.

With regards to leagality, its not as if im reducing the mileage, I need to add circa 50k miles to the new clocks.

Even if i have documents showing the replacement clock process, i (as a perspective buyer) would not really like to have a car whose mileage was not in tune with the MOT certificates ... regardless of how well the change is documented. An MOT tester will just put what the car mileage is showing.

I am sure that this is something that can be done with Vag Tacho, does anyone have any exsperience with this ?

Thanks

Jamie
