numbers on wiper stalk!?

hi, what do the numbers on the wiper stalk do???? it reads - 0 1 2 0

it dosnt seem to do anything and i dont currently have a manual.

sorry its a silly question its just totally bugging me!

on further playing ive found holding the slider on 0 make the computer reset, but still not sure on the differnce between 1 and 2..

yer i think if you put it on 0 and press the button it resets things and then 1 and 2 just shifts between different info maybe between miles n km? i dnt have a clue lol.

Its a trip computer...like a tacho thing...you know like to record your mileage like you would in any car(you would press the button by the clock to see cars overal milage or display mileage since last pressed...say when you filled up with fuel and reset it).

Only vw do a little more...lol

basically you have 2 numbers, one number for total trip info one for single trip.

lets say click it to number '1', but hold it to the left first to clear it. Now off on a journey if you tap the mfa button each press cycles through info such as, mileage(distance travelled), average mpg, temp,time etc you will work it out by the symbol.(each time you press it a tiny arrow points from a painted symbol around the screen,illustrating wha is being displayed).

Say you have finished your journey and you heading back home(hold it far right first to clear number '2's reading) this again does exactly the same.

Now when that journey is finished you have taht info, if you clicked it to number 1 again, number 1 carried on recording info for the 'total trip', whilst number 2 recorded the single trip. You can compare then info.

dont cry when you read the mpg reading ha ha the quicker you drive the lower the number ha ha!!

press the button until you get fuel consumption up (MPG) you have position 1 for trip position 2 for overall MPG the zeros either side zero the calculations 0 left to reset trip 0 right to reset overall just slide and hold in 0 position until it has reset

if you push it back and forth in a certain sequence while flooring the throttle with the clutch fully depressed you get launch control

yea its quite nice little function - jus avoid the mpg read out lol!

another little function which i quite like and didnt kno to begin with is ur adjustable intermittant wiper! push the wiper stalk down and it wipes not constantly but every so often yes? well, push it down once and then put it in the cancel position straight away.....count to....say....5 then push the stalk back down and leave it. wipers will come on every 5 seconds! push down, lift up, count toooooo....7, push down and they come on every 7 seconds! etc......

amazing! well was for me lol

ah thanks will try that, there loads of tech on these cars just its all hidden. but i have found after cleanin out the sunroof gutter yesterday how well built they are nearly everything is so easy to take apart and put back without breaking!

another over from fords! i used to think the yb was the best engine ever lol! then i heard a vr6 in a tunnel, then discovered 400+bhp is possible with jus a spacer plate on a standard engine soooooo.....had to have one! tho the big power will have to wait

some have the programmable wiper some dont, but its just a timer relay so if it doesnt you can buy the relay from vw

DanH...i never knew that itermittent thing, because i always thought its a pain in the arse the intermitent is too quick for the fine rain....you know the fine rain that soaks you through!!?! ha ha(not sure what i mean check out peter kay...."it's spitting!!!") i will try this. a spacer plate lowers the compression to allow you to run BOOOOOSSTTT

Spacer plate will not increase power. It just lowers the compresion ratio so that you can run boost without blowing your engine to pices. Running boost will give you power tho and lots of it lol.

Some other info about the two settings...

Setting 1 will reset it self after two hours of not being used or when you tell it too and setting 2 will only reset when you tell it too.
