Rayhoop 0
You just update the V5 document with the new engine number. If your looking for some peace of mind for yourself, you can get a decent garage to check it is not going to fall out.
p0u1 14
oh im not worried about my work, its just when changing the size of the engine they ask for the paperwork of how the engine got in the car
Rayhoop 0
they've never asked in the past when I've swapped lumps. Do update the V5 with the engine number and CC - best to keep it straight.
VR6Pete 1,455
They will ask for an engineers report from the garage who performed the conversion also.

VR6Nat 9
find a friendly garage, get them to do a check over it, bung them some money to provide a receipt....
CALICO 130
just a report from a garage to say it has been done to their satisfaction may cost you a drink but will be worth it
gavinvr6 0
hmmm i got a garage less than 200m from me who's into dub's.if all it takes is a safety report saying it's of safe quality it's gotta be worth giving they guy enough for a night on the sauce
Rustyman 0
I had similar prob with a RS2000 many years ago.. it went from XR3i to RS2000 The Garage who did swap never provided paper work when i bought it as it was one of the mechanics own cars... In end I had to get Police to come round who checked engine block number against poss stolen vehicles etc they said work had been undertaken well and garage was well know to them,,, Police letter sent to me said this. Only trouble i had was the VOSA forms and the DVLA being pricks .. Good luck with that as my local garage wouldn't touch it with a barge pole they didn't want their name associated with verifying someone elses work...I'd go with the concensus just update the V5 engine block number etc to DVLA and just get a pre MOT check done by your freindly garage who'll verify it is road worthy and all parts are where they should be.. that should suffice ? J5KE F 0
On numerous changes i have used vw specialists to complete the work, they have issued a letter stating that the work was carried out by and that they are vw tuning spelialistsIt is also useful to state the vin of the car that it went in and the offending engine number. In my experience they just like to see that it has been installed in a safe professional manner and that there is no reason it will fall out down the road, so as i have done with my latest caddy creation, a letter stating what donor engine has gone into the car, receipt from where the engine came from with engine number and a ticket from a friendly local garage to say they either installed it on your behalf or they have checked and re mot'd the car and that it is in asafe roadworthy condition!
