VR6Nat 9
you need to get it hooked up onto vag com as it could be a number of things... no point in changing one thing to find its another... start there, then you know what you have to deal with.

cornishvr6 52
Had it at a vag specialist this eve but only had bosch diagnostic equipment so it couldnt be plugged in on my early obd1, He said it could be a fault on the wiring down to the sensors on the calipers but wont know until he strips it down, anyone have any thoughts on this that may help?cheers
cornishvr6 52
anyone? before i take all the abs equipment off then surely they cant fail me on it then? lol
jimmyb 2
my abs had a pump fault aswell as sensors fault, last winter the light was sometimes on and sometimes off,and in the snow i DID notice the abs didnt work(soo close),lol but to be honest i bloody hate abs,i wish they never fitted it! but i would take a guess at the pump myself although you need to get it vag-com`d to be sure

CALICO 130
you may well still need VAG-com to purge the abs when bleeding your brakes

jonny english 0
Hi mate I had this problem and it was the rear o/s abs sensor supremely the most common abs sensor to go! 15 quid from eurocarparts! Worth try before you post out for a pump maybe?
Rikki 2
Why is the osr sensor the most common to go???? its usually the pump on the later cars which points to the osr? You really need vagcom mate as looking at your sig yours is the earlier abs system with the seperate ecu under the seats! get the part number off it and see if you can borrow one for testing. cornishvr6 52
had it on vag-com yesterday and its the front n/s sensor so getting that changed and a few other things at the same time, The guys at r-k engineering were very good and took it for a drive with the laptop plugged in to check for any other faults. veedubyah 0
I've got exactly same prob on my 97 highline, vw diagnosed the front sensors at fault. Had both them replaced. Light still coming on, back to VW and still a fault with the front sensors. They did say the fault codes were cleared from the memory each time. Both abs light & break warning (handbrake) light on now. A strange, boing/springy sound can be heard occasionally. Any thoughts on this chaps?
probert993 0
abs ecu, dry solder joints , in turn send out of control signals all the time, had mine split open by my electrician nearly every solder cracked and thats on a 97 vr6 , re soldered 1 new sensor all ok now
