airbag light

the airbag light started coming on a few months ago , if it isnt the airbag then what could it be ? any advice would be much appreciated guys

thats the only piece of equipment the airbag light is connected to

to find out why you need to hook it up to vag com it'll tell you exactly what its trouble is

i had same prob mate, did get sorted,

somethin to do with a seal or ring, was told it woz commen prob on vr`s

but since cumin a vr6oc member not heard ov it *-)

personaly would not worry mate

not somthin to sort on ya own if ya don`t no wot ya doin

an air bag has a big bang behind it

mine was the air bag slip ring, was a little more than i first thought 94 quid plus labour,,,

TBH get your self a dash blank to take old AIrbag light out only costs £8 off fleabay and cheaper than Ninety quid plus it passes MOT everytime...

i had a look for a blank but couldnt find one. but cheers ill keep a look out

if you arent fussed about fixing it properly and just want the light out you can easily take the front off the airbag light cover, its a small capless bulb, just bend the contacts to 90 degrees and wrap the bulb in black electrical tape and it wont shine through the translucent area that lights up any more.

That way you still retain the ABS warning light, which is always a good idea as ABS faults you really do want to know about and get fixed properly.

i hadnt thought of that but for the time being i will, then when the other bits are sorted i can get it fixed. cheers for the advice
