editionmatt 1
Just aquired a decent strong pole to cut down and weld between top mounts at the back on the bodywork. Just wondering if this is acceptable as i wud like a strut brace but also need it for harnesses. Is the bodywork strong enough to weld onto or will i need to strengthen it? b19drg 0
for what it costs you would probably be better buying the right part for the job
Apollo 0
If you dont get the correct angles on your DIY strut brace you will either snap your newly made brace or even worse rip your bodywork apart. Don't do it....buy one!!
editionmatt 1
but will a bought strut brace support harnesses? they look really flimsy, specially wen your a lot heavier if ur on a head on collision... any ideas?

spadam 7
Dont think you can attach harnesss to a strut brace wich is bolted in. Think it has to be welded in place. Someone will tell you for sure tho. I personally wouldnt trust a bolted in strut brace to hold harness for me and a passenger.
b19drg 0
could always go roll cage route ??
editionmatt 1
Ahhhh ok. Roll cage would be nice cheers for the replies.
Ben Seabrook 4
Nope harnesses have to be connected to a proper welded in bar you do see a few show cars with them attached to strut braces but it isn't recommended and not safe - can pick a show cage up for £150 or so mate -think there is one or two for sale on your other favourite website ;)
jesterwalker69 0
Real men bolt their harnesses to their bolted in strut brace buuuuuuuuut my harnesses are out of a Challenger 2 tank so they have an inertia reel as well which will take some of the force out instead of firing it right through the strutbrace. editionmatt 1
This was my first idea but since seeing cars with the harness on the bar i think it looks better lol just being picky
