sharky_70 0
not the engine as such but the exhausthoping it was an issue that my long overdue cooling service would sort. but after new coolant pipe, low temp stat, temp sensor, coolant flush and change the car still kicks out a lot of heat when you get out. you can really feel it coming from under the car when you open the door and a few people have mentioned ithigh EGT's maybe? its stock apart from intake, remap and exhaustwater and oil temps both show normal and no running issues
b19drg 0
Mine does the same and has done for thousands of miles , I class it as a quirk of the car now !!!

spadam 7
Mine is usually hot but if its more then normal have you checked your cat is blocked as these glow red when blocked and give off imense heat.
ashmk3 0
Mine does the same but I thougt it was because I was using a gti exhaust from when I did the swap. My girlfriend comments that she can feel the heat more when I go faster I never believed her. I'm just going to try the cat I have gotten from a vr6. See if it changes anything. craig46 0
It isnt so much just getting clogged up but certain circumstances cause the cat to collapse on the inside, if u look down the cat pipe the platinum 'cardboard' should sit flat. This also causes a reduction in horsepower. Definately worth checking.
Special K 81 0
my god i was thinking this the other day, i had the window open and i could feel the heat warming my arm resting on the door and noticed alot of heat around the legs when i get out the car. More so since i welded up a little bung on the cat which was causing an awful blowing sound....come to think of it i think ive lost some horses!
Lukey. 381
dont forget that big engined small cars are highly susceptible to heat soak, ie massive engine creates massive amounts of heat in a small area. All of them kick out a fair bit of heat, the ankle warming is a standard fit no cost option not available on lower spec models :-)
