spadam 7
They seem a bit cheap but sure someone will have had some experience.
russj249 2
they do seem very cheap.possibly Chinese copy parts. A bog standard Garrett turbo will start from about £600 anything up to over £2k for like a GT42R.These turbo's will work, but for how long, and how much engine damage they cause when they go wrong is unknown. spadam 7
^^^^ My point exactly you are risking your engine and your money. Buy right and buy once. Cheap turbos are false econmoy you want to over spec everything to make it reliable.
p0u1 14
i would stay clear i have heared there really bad built!look in the secound hand maket i got two small k03 turbos for my twin turbo built and it came to 97 pound posted and when they arrived i was happy to see that they had a nice easy life and still looked new :-p
FishWick 21
The T70 is a bit too big and the K27 is too small.Well, I say too big and too small but it depends where you want the boost to come in. T70 won't full boost till around 4000 or later and the K27 will probably full boost at 2500 or lower and run out of grunt....plus it's only a 2.75" outlet, so will choke the top end. dman78 1
this arrived today so my quest for boost begins....

matty.vrt 120
That turbo at 30 psi should see you 700 bhp quite nicely hope your building your motor to suit.
dman78 1
Well as you can see i went with the T70,ive ordered a decompression plate,38mm wastegate, arp studs, manifold, got a head with autotech valve springs and titanium retainers,3 gauges,3 hole gauge holder which fits under the ashtray. With all that coming im finding hard to sleep,i couldnt wait to get started so i've done this... ashmk3 0
How much was te decomp plate and where from if you don't mind me asking? Good look in this build hope it all goes good or ya.
dman78 1
de-compression plate bought off ebayhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260558750955&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2717wt_940

dman78 1
you doing a build aswell?
ashmk3 0
Well not as such lol basically long story short I swapped my gti lump for the vr lump then i had head gasket issues. But now the misses has brought a lupo which means I can work on the car without rushing around. So I'm going to de comp it, do the chains, 6 branch etc then I'm gonna run with it like that untill I can afford a charger. Either super or turbo not sure which yet. Supercharger seems the less complicated route.
michael5556 247
Can you run a n/a vr with a de comp gasket?
dman78 1
i dont really know but i was told you de-comp to gain more power/boost,so i dont see why not,one of the FI boffins will be along to answer this question...
ashmk3 0
yes you can run a vr N/A with a decomp plate, petes mk2 had it done and his results were impressive. i asked about this some time ago and those were his words( sort of)
michael5556 247
What type of results would I get? I am planning the same sort of thing, charger/turbo when I can afford it
ashmk3 0
well all i know is what i have researched and read, and most of the results seem to be impressive there is no harm to the engine running low comp. i cant see why there would be im guessing lowering the compresion is creating a more healthy/ efficient burn of the air/fuel mixture. im sure someone with more know how will tell me more info on it, the only reason i know some bits and bobs is because im studing it at college at the moment. spadam 7
Adding a decomp spacer to a NA engine wont increase power. It just allows you run higher boost which in turn gives more power. Sure some1 will confirm this unless im wrong.
