badboyV6 4
Hi all, while i was thinking of my old mk 2 i remembered an awesome little treatment i used on it. A friend of a friend whos a mechanic takes part in lots of road rallys in a tuned up twin cam 1.6 corolla (which shifts!). He managed to get hold of this forte gas treatment- comes in a tin. Basically it completely decokes the engine. My mate who is also a mechanic gave me a tin to put in my old valver- which had 136k on the clock. Sucked it up through the vacuum pipe on the metering head. while idling it and then rising the reveto about 3k to clear it out. First of all it started throwing out black smoke and started slightly missing, after about half a can the smoke cleared. It took about 15 minutes all in all. I took it out after and what a difference!!! Well worth it is youve got a high mileage VR. Its quite hard to get hold though - usually trade only.....
bazz780 0
so on a vr6 where would you put it in from? iv heard of the petrol/gas treatment ones and use that regularly which is quite good, but your one sounds more fun!

Devilfish 0
would it smoke like hell afterwards tho if it was worn???
badboyV6 4
no, my valver had a 136k on the clock, and as all GTI's are was probably thrashed all its life!! Honestly ran sweet as a nut and no smoke whatsoever. A couple of mechanic friends also used it on their valvers too with no ill effects!! Throttle response in particular was so much better for a start...
