Ben Seabrook 4
never heard of them mate but I wouldnt bother - save yourself some cash and get OE replacement ones from Euro Car Parts or GSF mate
oldmandon 1
Why have others got these blue and red leads? aren't they supposed to generate a greater spark over OE leads?
hvr6 88
magnecor do a range of uprated leads for the VR mate see here http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=5563
Ben Seabrook 4
Why have others got these blue and red leads? aren't they supposed to generate a greater spark over OE leads?well their are plenty of other leads out there done in different colours etc have had blue and red myself mate and different sizes - but no they dont generate a spark all they do is transfer the current and after running magnecor and a couple of other makes and different sizes I got better running with the car on the OE leads mate and I am not the only one ! tbh they are not worth the money
Ben Seabrook 4
people mainly have the colours to go with the rest of the colour coding in their engine bays I think

J5KE F 0
I run Dub power 10mm leads and rate them!the oem equivalent from Pete is £35.00 +Carr so also a very good price, but the 10mm are worth the extra!check out.. http://dubpower.co.uk/HT%20leads.HTMOh yeah, I have also used Magnecor, and personally think that although they are more expensive, the quality is no different! J5KE F 0
Ha! the joys!! I prefer 10mm leads either way be f/i or n/a.Probably just me, but I've always believed in the logic of a good solid spark, and all of my cars have needed new leads and always go one up from stock
Ben Seabrook 4
hmmm yeah but as long as the leads are new I am just not convinced the slightly larger ones are worth paying double the money for ?
J5KE F 0
Tru, but oem leads are designed for oem vrs.. once u start changing the characteristics of the engine with exhausts, cams, chips etc.. then demand on leads increases.. I guess I have never really settled for mild mods!
Ben Seabrook 4
but as said Jim's and mine ran better on oem than on the 10mm leads ! just not convinced their is enough evidence to say they are a univerally good mod ? peeps seem to have widely different experiences with them
J5KE F 0
Indeed.. Lets just tag this conversation as a PPP! Personal Preference Prevails!
Ben Seabrook 4
ha ha true it's good to talk you know !! but seriously it's interesting as most things seem to be either acknowldeged as good or bad and yet leads seem to be very much 50/50 - I know some cars seem to run much hotter than others - under boonet temps - so I wonder if this makes a difference ?? Rikki 2
OE all the way! had 2 sets of dubpowers 1 magnecore and would suggest Genuine VW red leads only....not the black set you can buy!
craggsy 91
Yep genuine reds fir me. No problems whatsoever
Lukey. 381
what is the difference between gen red and gen black? i just got some gen leads and heard reds were better so insisted upon them, but then looked at them and they looked exactly the same as the gen black ones that they replaced.being red they obviously look nicer and therefore will add a few bhp
