vr6_super 0
Hey allCommon problem I see from various threads that I have read, my VR6 is pulling to the left in a straight line. When I leave wheel alone after starting off, going very slowly btw, the steering wheel just starts turning to the left by pretty much half a rotation.Tyres recently changed and tracking done and spot on.Also when tyre on left side was put on the mech said he needed a lot of weights to balance it coz theres some sort of small dent/bulge in the alloy. Said he got it balanced anyhow. From other threads sounds like maybe a camber issue. Can anyone who has had similar issues confirm camber alignment fixed issue?Cheers
Nero Mk 2 8
I Used to have this problem, had tracking done, wheels done camber done, then re-done, tried tracking again.Turned out the passenger side chassis leg was twisted.
vr6_super 0
See I was thinking it could be something chassis wise but would that not have shown up on mot?
p0u1 14
mine pulls to the left, right allover the place and thats because i need to change my front wishbone bushes
Apollo 0
Get a full wheel alignment done, not just tracking. This will sort the camber angle out as well. Google camber angle if you get time it will explain all, basically if one of your angles is out less tyre is in contact with the road and can cause the turning motion. cabrioman 6
as above you need a 4 wheel laser alignment done this should correct any steering angle faults as 99% of cars have a thrust angle the 2 wheel tracking wont compensate for this and you will need up with pulling, off centre steering wheel etc etc
vr6_super 0
yeah kinda thought i might need the 4 wheel done, well off to hypertech for me
vr6_super 0
had alignment done and told me one thing, keep it away from my local mechanic. he told me tracking was fine and alignement check from duncan at hypertech shows it was way out, however that wasnt the problem.he fixed the toe and now thats set ok but still pulling, the camber is fine on the front but a smidge out on the back, however its too small to make any difference.he did say it could be the left engine mount as its got liquid on the mount (said could be silicon type gel from inside the mount leaking, indicating worn mount) meaning if its worn and leaning then that would pull car to the left.make sense? or better yet sound like a reasonable assumption? VR6Pete 1,455
Took mine down stealth racing for 4 wheel alignment
vr6_super 0
thats what i got, 4 wheel alignment and there was nothing on the printout that pointed to why it was pulling, ergo would the engine mount issue be a feasible problem?
nivag27 5
Sounds to me like ya bushes are shot?
vr6_super 0
Just out of curiousity which bushes would they be?Thinking I may just get new mounts anyways coz I am planning on charging it in the spring/summer and apparently new mounts are advised when doing this?Plus they werent changed when the new engine was put in or at least theres no mention of new mounts on the invoices. If I am going down the new mounts route, which are best? Ive heard about VF and Vibra? Any ideas?
p0u1 14
the bushes that sit on the wish bones, can you rock the wheel in the arches when you jack up the car, is there any play?
VRRob 0
Could be your top strut mounts. had this problem with a car recently.

void_main 0
My 4motion pulls to the left as well, but I know my front wishbone is nackered as well as my bushes. Also powersliding (or should that be power-crashing) on ice into kurbs probabbly didnt help.
vr6_super 0
Thought I would bump this up as its kinda overtaken the new induction kit as most needed part. The car is driving fine at the mo but veering to the left and so having to have the wheel constantly turned a bit to the right to correct said pull to the left.Taking it into garage tomorrow to get the cause ascertained but going by responses sounds like wishbones / bushes.Though previous mech thought it was the left engine mount which kinda worries me as its 140 min for 1 mount and obviously the cost in taking the engine in and out.Anything I can do or can any1 suggest anything to check before handing it over for diagnosis. Like I said, only thing I note is thats its pulling to the left. When I start off and go at a snails pace the wheel automatically turns like a quarter turn to the left.Cheers for any more light
craggsy 91
Wont need to take engine out for ANY engine mounts
spadam 7
As above jack engine up from dump with a piece of wood once engine mounts are undone.
vr6_super 0
ahhhh, not a lengthy job then?will remember that if and when it turns out to be the mounts, hopefully though it will be wishbone
vr6_super 0
right, got car back and says that the engine mount and wishbone etc look ok but one thing he did notice is that the struts are different lengthsie the thread showing from the locking ring to the nut or whatever it is is at different lengths between the front pair. could this cause the veer to the left, if the ride height is slightly different between the two wheels? spadam 7
Yes I would imagine so as more weight would be over the shorter strut so car would lean thy side.
vr6_super 0
will try that first anyways, i didnt put suspension on but been told it is adjustable, do i have to jack it up to adjust it or can i have it up on ramps and standing under the car?dont know if its possible to adjust if theres weight on it on the ramps so is under the jack better? should i take wheel off?soz for the newb questions
spadam 7
You will need to remove the wheel so best to jack it up and put 2 axle stands either side of the car.
vr6_super 0
halfords here i come, its that fekn low i need a trolley jack and a block of wood to get the wheel high enough to get the jack in ffs loltime to do a wee search on the forum and find the best jacking points, sure i saw one somewhere
