bonesvr6 0
was at work yesterday morning, went out for a smoke, went to take an admiring glance at the 6............noticed the back light hanging off......went over to have a look, and found this! :-(after id sellotaped the light back in.....rear 3 quater is pushed in about 2-3 inches right along the crease, and a ripple where it goes in behing the rear cluster, best bit, he hit it, realised reversed back and buggered off!!! couple of the lads heard it, but thought the wagon had jumped out of gear. so didnt go and investigate, after flying round the industrial estate, trying to find the wagon, and hurtling into a car park with two bike cops sat in it....oops! wasnt wearing a seatbet either, spoke to them and they werent bothered, just said find out f the place it as parked outside has cctv. long story short, they havent, but hed just delivered to them, so got the details and spoke to the comany it belonged to, and now waiting for insurance to sort stuff out, but in all honesty, i recko theyre going to write it off. but im not going down without a fight if they do!so we'll wait and see! oldmandon 1
' date=' i recko theyre going to write it off. but im not going down without a fight if they do!so we'll wait and see![/quote']Actually they are not allowed to write it off without your consent. Only your insurance company can write it off, but seeing as you are claiming off them, they're stuffed.....You can insist that the car be returned to its former glory, and its their problem. People thinkthat if the insurance company say they are gona write a car off, theyhave no choices other than accepting their offers, except you do. So INSIST it's repaired not written off
Lukey. 381
i have a friend who is an insurance assesor, they will only pay up a certain percentage of an older cars value, that they have pre determined in whatever system they use, in fixing it, anything more and they class it as beyond economic repair and wont pay any more, youre right that its not your only option, but once theyve given you a figure they arent gonna increase it just cos it means more to you than its actual monetary value, to them its numbers. Sorry to be blunt but best off to know what you are probably going to face from them. Especially with the stupid amounts insurance repairers charge, they chrage stupidly for everything, my mum had her 06 astra fixed and got charged 2 lots of £30 just for removal and refitting of bump strips, never mind the 800 for the stoved in rear quarter. craggsy 91
It also depends on who you're insured with. A specialised company like Brentacre etc will fight you corner as they know the true worth, hence why they ask for your mods so they can take that into consideration
kebster 0
This happened to me on thursday on the same panel . The bin wagon was reversing around the corner and caught my car with his bumper and it took a chunk out of my wheel aswell.
