Sooo much nicer than the golf What exhaust is that..? Mines a twin exit but desperate for a Single !
palmer 17
Yea im not sure whether i will keep the sticker on.......I put it on an liked it for while but startin 2 change my mind. The exhaust is a full cobra de-cat system with outward rolled lip ( Sounds Amazin ) I dint like it at first as my old VR had an upswept letterbox style tip so was used to that but i must admit it has grown on me. look forward to seein pics of urs aswell m8. Covered it with black & white camo which came out pretty well considerin it was my first attempt. Got a couple of black plastic interior piece's out of a mk3 colour concept but still need couple of pillars as the scrappy had crushed the front 1s wen they lifted the car. Does any1 know if they did a colour concept vento ?? as the rear pillars are diff shape as i have a boot............cheersPalmer

palmer 17
Ok so not updated for a very long time although there isnt much to update lol. Stripped the car a few months ago as the floor was soaked an found a swimming pool in passenger footwell Sorted that out an now found a couple of leaks/holes that i will be getting sorted asap. Had a nice run upto UD 2012 the last wknd although on the way home part of the gear linkage snapped so had to do a quick bodge in micheal wood services ( M5 ) to get me home. Ordered new parts from Volkswagen and didnt cost as much as i had thought lol. Fitted this morning and gears do feel better as there was a washer missing !! So just general upkeep in the near future an hopefully some new paint
palmer 17
So just thought i would put some pics up of how she stands at the moment............Strip downMmmmmm nice and dirty :-/Bare blockMy improvised lock for the crankWho needs heat and a windy gun when u have a 12 foot poleShiny parts :-)Shiny rear axlePretty much as she stands at the moment, Just in the process of putting polybushes in and then will start on the rebuild which may take a while as im getting the mrs a 4mo at the end of the month for her Bday :-)
palmer 17
So what started as a nice simple rebuild an polybush has kinda spawned into a 24vT haldex conversion :-)... My progress so far has bin slow as will the whole project as i want to make sure things are done properly and I dont just bodge them. As it stands she is sat in my lock-up completely stripped of everything so I can address some welding that needs doing amongst other things. I have started to de-seam the bay ready for the smoothing sesh. I will post pics up when i can but like i said it will take me a while lol.Mk4 dash (just needs abit more tweaking)Start of the de-seaming24v GoodnessHello cheekyLots of wiring to sort out !!These are jus a few pics that i thought would do for now, Hopefully have some more over the wknd after i attack all the old manky underseal :-)
Daverse 175
Looking good mert! Let us know hpw the haldex stuff goes!
palmer 17
Ok so i figured it was about i re-posted some bits that got deleted a while back when things all changed round. The project is still moving ahead slowly although i have nearly given up a few times as the more i do seems to create more work, But i shall push on. As she stands at the moment i am in the process of knocking up the haldex bracket (whether this is the one that stays is yet to be decided) the engine is sat in on an axle stand awaiting a nice shiny bracket from the good men over at United Motorsport. Progress is slow as free time is quite hard to come by at the moment as i have just got married but hopefully i will be down the unit most weekends cracking on. My deadline was originally UD14 which hopefully i will make :-/.......Anyway heres a few pics to keep you going for a while.Im getting the slowly as you can see, Hopefully i will have more updates at the weekend. Cheers
VR6Pete 1,455
Some serious fabrication going on there matey!Hope you'll be wishing your car on the VR6OC club stand for UD2014 Keep up the work and don't give up fella!
palmer 17
Cheers bud, When i started it seemed quite straight forward but how wrong was I :-/........Well hopefully if i can get it done in time i may just have to harass you for a space lol
palmer 17
Ok so spent the day today cutting off the diff bracket and making a new one, I know it may seem a tad odd but i just wasnt completely happy with the other one so started again. I think the new one is alot better looking than the 1st attempt but i will let you decideBefore:After:There is one bit that has annoyed me and that is one of the holes is slighty out of alignment as the steel moved on the pillar drill and i didnt notice until it was to late :-(. So that was most of my day today (this fabricating malarky is time consuming stuff). Oh got some new wheels for vivian for when she's done, Just need to get them banded :-)As always let me know ur thoughts and i shall hopefully have another update next wknd :-)
palmer 17
Ok so navnt been down the unit for couple of months but will put up some recent pics and will hopefully get down there this wknd.Ok so my gearbox mount turned up courtesy of United MotorsportRefurbed my front axle'sStarted bolting everything back together (ignore the temp bolt through coily)Engine sat in until its ready for paint and so i can start rebuilding the front endHad to cut off my haldex bracket as i wasnt entirely happy with the angle the driveshafts would of been sat at. So my job for the next couple of wknds is to get that sorted and get her sat back on her own wheels :-)

palmer 17
Ok so spent some of 2day wrestling with the wiring loom out the mk4. Got some of run around the bay but got fed up with it after a while so decided to try fitting the mk4 brake's. Had to fab a little 6mm plate to compensate for the difference between the mk3 and mk4 discs. Then had to re-drill the hub as the screws that hold the discs on had snapped off. Bolted it all together and im happy to sat it all fits, well I need to invest in some slightly longer bolts for the brake's as ive put the 6mm plate in there. Test fitted one of my 16" steelies and it fits a treat with no fouling of the caliper so im a happy boy. Shall go down again during the week and carry on with the wiring abit then hopefully next wknd I can start on my new haldex bracket. Cheers for ur support :-) Oh and treated myself to a new haidryer :-)
