What shell to use???

Hi there,

I have a vr6 engine and im looking to put it into a mk2 but im unsure what body to use. I know if i use a mk2 gti shell then i need to weld the front mount solid and move the back one forward slightly but what in terms of fabrication would i need to do if i use a mk2 1.3 or driver shell or is this even possible??

not sure about your engine mounts, but be sure to use a late shell 89 onwards as the wireing loom suits the conversion better.

Use a mk2 gti 90 spec shell and swap the subframe for a mk3 vr6 one then use either a vibratnics mk2 vr6 front mount or one from ebay the seller is also is a member on mk2vr6 and the vr6 engine will droo straight in no welding needed as said above use a 90 spec car as the loom is pkug and play altough you will need to modify it i.e headlight connections etc

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I am using a 92 gti, with a corrado pedal box, should I use te corrado front cross member and slam panel with rad? And using the whole mk3 subframe etc, mounts should be ok?

The rad will fit your mk2 front cross member and yes the mk3 subframe and mounts wilk be fine

You can use the mk3 rad but theres cutting involved the rado vr6 rad is a direct fit its alot wider but the holes will be there and it will fit.
