oldmandon 1
Hi all,Right I want to put a 6 branch exhaust manifold onto my car. In an IDEAL world I would buy Miltex or Supersprint etc. but being a family man with a wife about to be made redundant (poxy civil service...don't they know I got plans.......) I can't afford a good quality unit.So now I have to look futher down the price range.....there are a few manifolds being listed on fleabay around £150 mark, are these gonna be total crap or is it a case, they'll be ok but only for a year or two as they'll rot etc...the units I've seen are stainless and polished.comments from the guru's (especially Ben Seabrook!!!.....lol) are very welcome... spadam 7
Alot of members are using the raceland one from ebay and seem to be good. Just remember you need a solid front mount to stop you from cracking/ splitting your new manifold. Also it will need to be heat wrapped also.
russj249 2
You can also do what i did and have a flexy section welded in instead of the cat.. but unless you've got a friendly mot tester, or work for one like i do, you might have trouble with emissions
VR6Pete 1,455
had racelands on all my previous VR6's, with another one to go on my Corrado next month! Mine is ceramic coated, so no need for heatwrapping
oldmandon 1
how much are the raceland units? and what system are most using ie jetex, magnex miltec etc?
spadam 7
Ive got a magnex exhaust going on along with decat then i will look at getting a manifold fitted.
Ben Seabrook 4
ha ha well as above mate the Raceland ones are good and an uprated front mount is a good idea too although I wouldn't go for a solid one personally as you will get a lot of cabin shake !! I didn't hear wrap mine and I know a few peeps haven't put for the small cost involved its probably worth doing, as for exhausts I would go for a Jetex all day long fella

oldmandon 1
Do you get a benefit from a 6 branch manifold with a standard exhaust system? or is the standard system too restrictive?
Lukey. 381
wasnt there something on the net showing that the stock manifold on NA kept the torque and 6 branch was better for forced?
oldmandon 1
have no idea, thats why I asked, Am planning on putting on a full system, an induction kit, a decat pipe...I'm under the impression that better breathing all round produces more power, but I think the original system may be restictive. I just wanted to confirm
