HazelVR6 0
I am new on here, so a big hello to all of you fellow VR6er's. I have followed this board since last May when I got my green 96 VR golf and is now a must read every lunch time. Right, to cut to chase, I have problem which has started over the last two weeks. Sometimes when I come up to a junction, put it in first gear, go to pull away I get no power. The revs climb very slowly, but it is not missing. when it gets to 3k it clears a bit but still is scary experience. If I pull the clutch in, it idles fine. The only way to get back to normal is turn it off and start it again, after that it goes back to being normal. Your expert opinions are greatly received.
bazz780 0
im having exactly the same problem, if you put it into neutral and rev then the revs take ages to climb, from what i have read on forums i am lead to believe it is the hall sender which i am intending to change soon, when i had a go at cleaning mine it made a huge difference for a few minutes then felt slow again,so i am going to change mine

acf8181 0
think they cost something like £50....lot of money to spend if not 100% sure. get vag-com plugged in and check the fault codes, it will bring one up.i had hall sender failure (in fact, it wasn't the sender, it was the thingy on the cam sproket) and it didn't give these symptoms you're desribing...it was down on power and very lumpy.
