dubbed_up_daz 8
coming home from work one night the gear stick done a dead fish impression...investigation turned up a modified cup and lever and the lever had been pretty poorly weldedtig welded it back together and its still holding up got some time to work on my other wheelsseeing as progress was being made I worked out what specs of adaptors id needbut double checking with wheels proper is always better than guesstimation so I got a loan of a couple of wheels from a mateand ordered them up
dubbed_up_daz 8
looks mean.thank you About this time I went through a pretty poor spell' date='smashed up the original sump breaking over bumps from highish speed on a rural road...got a spare sump from a mate but within a week on my commute to work in cruise mode going through average camera'd roadworks I ran over the base off a motorway cone that was lying in the middle of my lane and it mullered the new sump It wasnt leaking like last time but the oil pressure light would come on if you went over 2k so I suspected it had only been shoved up onto the pick up similar to the first sump but without the gaping holeso got a new sump[img']http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y120/dazdub/htc542.jpgto replace the damaged sumpbut turns out the pump was dead, soon as I took of the old sump and tried to remove it it fell to bitsso sourced a mk5 .:R sump and pump from a friend who had a spare but collecting it caused huge drama involving my mum being in a crash and being in hospital and me leaving my mates in my sisters car(70 miles away)at speed(not much speed its a mk5 1.4 golf),caught speeding on the M-way(74 in a 60)turning into an expired licence and the car being impounded and me in a train heading home at 11pm............ dubbed_up_daz 8
spent a couple days sorting that out(getting the car out the pound and squaring up my licence situ)then got to work on the car again.sumps for comparisonpulled the exhaust off to realign it all properly.:R pump inand sump onbit more snugbit more modifyingnew tailpipe fabbed, fitted and satin blacked
dubbed_up_daz 8
.:R sump lasted just over the weekend then after a monday night session of gt5 at a friends where I left my phone.I was going to pick it up the following morning and theres a new section of road that changes to the old tarmac...its not a road im on a lot in that direction and the dip ook out the front corner of the sump, dumping the contents all over the place.....double gutting as the car was supposed to be going to get the rest of the car painted that night after a bit more wheeling and dealing had sorted out a full spraynew .:R sump was purchased, fitted thursday night, filled up with oil friday morning, drove to work, left to head to the paint shop and spur off the moment pulled into a petrol station to put a bit petrol in......road out had huge ruts and smashed the sump in.........31 miles took the smashed up (2nd)steel sump and measured from the pump impact to the face off the sump which came in at @98mm,measured the .:R and it was @108mm so smashed out the steel sump to clear the .:R pump and then reinforced it slightlyroadtested......hit a dip on the motorway at 70 and after wincing and checking the rear view for the inevitable slick and oil buzzer as I pulled over eventually found this smeared up the face of the sumpand its held up to this day

dubbed_up_daz 8
corrado decided to drop its engine on the ground............drivers side bumper bolts came loose by some combination of errors and fell out basically so that side of the cross member was only being held up by an m6 bolt or whatever it is with a 13mm head which also eventually came out depositing the sump literally on the ground.Id just got the day off for tomorrow sanctioned and was heading from asda to the nearest jetwash when it all literally went downmy brother came to the rescue, left the pictures(his anniversary no less)and brung down the trolley jack.Banged a widow maker under the sill.Lifted it up enough to get the trolley jack under the front on the cross member, ghettoed the cross member back on and got bolts back in.......when car went back in to get the bumpers stu buffed out the 'key' mark it had picked up within a week....probably a kid with his first my little needle.........rear plinth washed down with gunwash stuff then scotchied and maskeddustiedghetto de-lock yobumper got masked for cataloy workcat'ed,rubbed down then some slinky smooth cataloy shit poured on cured and rubbed down

dubbed_up_daz 8
Limping it about with the head gasket on the way out(no cross contamination and if you drive very easy its not throwing the water out all the time)not just a random quick reset whilst on the motorway eitherAnd not even an isolated occurence  also, picked this up at the scottish vag glasgow meet
dubbed_up_daz 8
The adaptors for the gold wheels arrived but they were not drama free, basically a screw up got the wrong drawing sent to the adaptor maker so had to wait on new ones coming.......Adaptors arrived about half 1-2pm. Wasnt going to polish the sides but thought itd be rude not too,got them chromed again as theyre steel and I didnt fancy rust dripping onto the wheels. The chromer wanted something bolted in to wire these up so rather than having a pair off bolts kinda shiny I put in all five so all the wheel bolts got a tickle of chrome as wellWent to my tyre fitter mates bit to get the tyres on but knowing these were going to poke I had to raise the car....C-spanner had went walkies ended up using a masonry chipping hammer and a centre punch  took the camber out as near as I could eye it up with the side off the car in the air,all the corners are all over the ship height wise, the cambers mucked up and I mucked up the passenger wing on a proper chronic downhill corner heading to a friendsbut............till I fix stuff this is how it sits
dubbed_up_daz 8
big BIG thanks again to Ed for painting the centres(and stu for the clear )Run up and back to some stuff I had to sort stuff out the rubbing was increasing though. The front right is rubbing pretty bad from the leading edge under acceleration(wishbone bushes just gave up the ghost),the fr/ps is iffy going round right handers and the rears pretty cool considering the bootload its carryingbut pics after settling..... dubbed_up_daz 8
Cheers The bentleys will be getting recoated then out to the side for winter and general running but the teledial splits were meant to be on a while ago to run through summer but things got complicated Ive got another set of splits coming and I hope once the running issues are sorted(soon as the bushes are all done the headgasket is getting done)ill be able to start enjoying it.Also just bought another corrado as a parts car which I swore I wouldnt do when I decided to keep it but between mine, Stu's, Ed's and his missus Jenna's corrados I thought it was only fair to add to the parts pool ive dipped into so much.plan once the engine is rebuilt and re-run back in is still to pull the engine for my mk1 and convert this to 24v or possibly just a charged obd2 but thats a good bit down the line. Still got my other mk1 to 20vT before I convert this
dubbed_up_daz 8
RCF - a sump guard wouldnt be any use for me,it would just sit on the ground constantly When im fitting the subframe ive got blocks to fit that will raise the engine and take the sump out the firing line. And it really was just down to a run of bad luck and combination off bad roads/circumstances. Ive never done a sump in in my life before
