oldmandon 1
I don't know anything about charges etc so can't coment on whats said, other than I agree in that a supercharger would be my prefered F/I method as it's instant and constant, unlike a turbo with lag and surge.I have a question though, wouldn't the superchargers from a G60 Golf or Corrado be of any use? Ben Seabrook 4
ha ha sorry mate !! have a look through these two threads http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?280459 and http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?231150 and ask both owners questions as they are both way more knowledgable than me regarding turbos and will answer all your questions but the threads will give you an idea mate

Caddyslammed 16
Well i'm going to start with buying another enginefirst, strip it and then have a sleep on what to do, seeing Jim's thread where he turbo'd his VR to similar power of the M90 with £1000 budget is inspiring, but on the other hand, like i have mentioned before i dont know where to stop...., if i'm gonna turbo it i would more likely aim for 4/500 bhp, and thats where everything gets expensive. What power can the standard VR gearbox handle?
Ben Seabrook 4
well Jim was using a standard gearbox on his !! although it only lasted for around 8 months or so I think but it can certainly take 300-350 no probs its only when you start adding diffs and sticky tyres into the mix that it doesnt like it !! p0u1 14
what i was thinking, install a short runner maniflod, mount the charger ontop of the engine with the extra room you gain without the normal intake manifold, then run a slitly bigger belt, i think i might try this as you can pick the charrgers up cheap
Caddyslammed 16
Do you have a pic of what you mean by a short runner manifold pleasse?
Caddyslammed 16
This maybe?
Caddyslammed 16
But a little different
craggsy 91
It also depends on type of turbo used with gearboxes. If it comes on later then gearboxes fair better than if it comes on boost quickly
