i use baby wipes to get any dust and dirt off all the pipes, then wipe over with Auto Glym Vinyl and Rubber care on anything plastic or rubber, that brings it all up nice... for any shiney metal use Autosol metal polish, that works a treat... for any bodywork, wash down (just use a baby wipe) then dry and polish....

If it is really bad in there you can use an engine cleaner, think i used an Auto glym one before, might be engine and machine clean... but once it was done once baby wipes are enough to get the dirt off without being too damaging to parts.

I got my engine bay jetwashed out. got to bag up electrics, are carful with the plug holes collecting water :) then cleaned up everything else up with brushes and clothes, used metal polish on all my stuff, and black to black on all engine plastics brings it all up like new :)
