VeedubVR 0
bought HIDs the other day but cant decide on where to mount them to. (on my phone so cant search properly)I would prefer them out of the way cos the ballasts arent the nicest looking things. But anything will do atm. Pics would be a great help Thanks
dman78 1
wherever you can find the space is where you can mount them,i got mine where my airbox use to be and on my battery tray
jimmyb 2
i fixed mine with stickyback velcro, the nearside on the inside wing(near the bottom of the washer bottle) and the offside i stuck on the airbox itself! lol,it dont really look out of place to be honest though,i love the hid visibility but on dip 1 of them is flickering then goes off!.(not that i use it) but still its irritating and im gonna have a look when i get a chance.anyone else had a simliar problem? VeedubVR 0
The ballasts ive got dont have screw holes, they have brackets that go over the top. But i dont want to drill extra holes in the car and I cant find anywhere to cable tie them to.
jimmyb 2
i also didnt want to drill holes, thats why i used this stuff, not exactly this as i got mine from my local car shop, but the same thing and its holded the ballast just fine http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Velcro-Self-Adhesive-Sticky-2mtrs-x-20mm-hook-loop-B-/370391985334?pt=UK_Crafts_Sewing_Supplies_MJ&hash=item563d152cb6#ht_2030wt_905
VeedubVR 0
I was going ot mount them to the inner wings but with not having arch liners they will get covered in crap. My mate said pput the ballasts in balloons or sandwich bags, which is a good idea but its not going to look tidy.
Lukey. 381
ive done that with the relays and fuses exposed under the bonnet, wrapped them up in thick black balloons, you dont even notice them unless you know theyre there. As long as you didnt buy absolute sh!te the ballasts should be completely waterproof anyway
VeedubVR 0
Its round by the connecters that get corroded. Happened to the ones I bought for my polo and I got those from HIDS4U.
Lukey. 381
ok, theyre pretty much the best too. Balloon them up then! :-D
jasonoldy69 1
Currently got mine tied up with a bit of electrical tape, until I can think of a better way. Noticed one of the wires slightly rubbing on the alternator belt oops, so had to tie that up somewhere as wellThe kit I got came with rubber seals for the ballast. As long as you have the right size hole in the back of the headlights, it's a pretty snug fit
