Matt21385 0
Hi guys, I was changing my front disks and pads on my corrado and one of the bolts has sheared! It's the bolt that holds the caliper in place. Does anyone know how to remove the rest of the bolt that is now stuck?
VR6Pete 1,455
I had a sheered bolt in my engine mount on the corrado, if you cannot get a blob of weld on the bolt to try extend the bolt to unscrew it / drill it out.. I had to send mine off to an engineering place so they could remove the bolt for me using special tools...
Dave_ciw 507
For the price of getting such work done by an engineering unit it may be worth buying a 2nd hand hub. We sell them on the golf for £30 + delivery so surely someone may have one for similar money.
p0u1 14
is there any of the bolt left because if there is you can use something like http://local.content.compendiumblog.com/uploads/user/e7b7d7cc-2d0a-4788-a1b6-3d598b6693cd/d04f36ff-fba0-49ae-bcbc-bf3caa5f34de/100_2850%20Bolt%20Out.JPG or mole grips, if not you might need to source a new carryer for you brake
p0u1 14
the thread is on the caliper side, so a new caliper is what he would need
Dave_ciw 507
Forgive me if I'm wrong but doesn't the bolt go through the caliper carrier into the hub at the back? I think the bolt that has sheared is the larger 2 holding the carrier to the hub not the slider bolts? But I could be mistaken.

Dave_ciw 507
Wow engineers round here will charge the earth for simple work Pete but if you have friends in the industry its always a help.

There is no bolt visable, so I have ordered a set of broken bolt extractors to see if they get it out. If not, looks like a new part
Nero Mk 2 8
If you drill a 5.2/3 mm hole down the centre of the snapped bolethen run a m6 left hand tap down the hole you just drilledfind a m6 bolt and screw into place, as the bolt tightens you should be able to loosen the broken onehttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RDGTOOLS-M6-x-1-0-LEFT-HAND-TAPS-6MM-SPECIAL-/290435648729http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-Pcs-5-2mm-Black-Gold-Tone-Spur-Twist-Drill-Tool-Bit-/190463796451?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item2c5886e4e3#ht_2091wt_1139
Matt21385 0
Thanks for all the replies guys, I will try a few of these options and hope that I can get it out. Can someone tell me the size of bolt this is and where I can buy them? Also is it true that you must use thread lock on these bolts?
Matt21385 0
Just an update, got the bolt out and got a replacement. Got a new problem now though, I have put everything back together to which I believe is the right order but when I took the caliper off the pads fell out so not 100% sure. Can anyone point me in the right direction of some pics or a how 2?
p0u1 14
well the pad what sits on the caliper piston should have a clip then the other one can fall out when the disk is not inbertween the pads
