I'm bidding on the following item on Ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38786&item=4522658876&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW ...and I don't know whether this system will make the car illegal for it's MOT - does this system bypass the cat (which I THOUGHT was in the middle section) - or am I being thick?Any ideas? Macca 1 Posted January 30, 2005 Report Share Posted January 30, 2005 I have pretty much exactly that exhaust sitting in the corner of my room, came off my old 1.8 golf!DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!!1. It will not fit your car, i measured it up to my VR6 and the exhaust diameter is a lot wider on the VR than for a 1.8cl!2. It is stupidly loud and sounds bollocks3. Youve got a nice car, and it deserves a nice exhaust. People in the know will rate a Peco right at the bottom of the pile.Also, that system does not replace the catalytic converter. In that picture youve got the back box, and the length of pipe behind it replaces the middle silencer: the cat is further up.Didnt know theyd fetch 40quid! Gotta get mine on ebay quick! jfb1977 0 Posted January 30, 2005 Author Report Share Posted January 30, 2005 DOH!!!I just bought a Peco exhaust from somewhere else!!!?I wanted a nice throaty exhaust - so I'm not too worried about the noise.But I've obviously bought the correct one for the VR6 with DTM pipes....I thought it looked resonable quality for the money - are they really crappy then? Doh....I wanted a Miltek but the budget won't stretch to that at the mo (it's literally double the price).....I guess I'll see how I go with the Peco and then maybe Ebay it and buy a Miltek.Should've posted before parting with my hard earned....whoops! Well, If you like it thats all that matters! :)if everyone had the same car things would be dull!I wouldnt buy another cos they are so loud, but if you like it that way then thats cool. jfb1977 0 Posted January 31, 2005 Author Report Share Posted January 31, 2005 Have cancelled the order for the Peco exhaust....and was going to just buy a Magnex back box 'for the time being'....however, got a little carried away at the exhaust place and have just booked the car in for a full Powerflow custom system on Thursday....he he he.....should be schweeet though. But Powerflow do a really nice one - it's only a tiny bit upswept and essentially a 'tweaked' twin pipe design. There's not much of an angle on the upsweep, but I think it looks good on the car!
