fabio_vr6 0
Is there much difference in the 2 setups as to brake feel ans stopping, is it worth upgrading?many thanks
Macca 1
I asked Designa Dubs this question, and they said there was a big difference (but its only 8mm!?)If i was going to change the brakes id probably go for the 312mm(or 318mm or something) setup from a seat. Im told these can be fitted easily.
acf8181 0
most significant bit about 288's is the fact that they have much larger pads, and thus bigger contact area, than the 280's.
Macca 1
Just seen a post from Phat VR6 selling brakes from an R32, a few posts down. Also reminded me that you will need larger wheels (17inch, some 16 inch will work also i think) if you want the 312mm setup

Guest Seraph
What cars came with 312mm brakes? So i can get some parts!Audi TT, s3, golfmk4 4motion & V5, among others! If its anything like the mk4's 288s, you just need to replace the carriers and the discs.
antera309 3
I was told that no spacers are required to fit 312s on a VR6 - you just use the standard caliper carriers from a car with the 312mm setup (Audi TT, S3, Seat Leon Cupra R etc). Apparently, these will bolt straight to the VR6 hubs. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
binliner 0
thats true... just chnge the disks and carriers
