donjuan 0
i'll be honest with you. good for the track but not on the road.way too firm. if you imagine driving a go-kart on the road and hitting all the bumps and little pot holes, thats some idea of what they are like. b19drg 0
just checked. they are the GTX ones. just over 12 months old. not under so they are out of warranty but not covered anyway due to not being the original purchaser. think these are retailing for just over a grand at the moment .looking for about £350. will have them all cleaned up like new again once removed.please note that these are VERY hard ! feels like it's got concrete shocks on !Can you send me some pics once you have them of please. donjuan 0
arent the AVO dampering adjustable ones ???they are. they go from rock hard to even harder. it's the springs that are too hard. just too stiff to compress on the road. probably perfect on a nice smooth track but not on our un-perfect uk roads. Dragon Dave 1
I have a Koni spring and damper setup. I'm very happy with the ride height and comfort. My car feels so much more comfortable than my friends car (also a golf VR6) that has FK coilovers and it handles better too (but I have also done polybushes and ARB's, which he hasn't)I have 17 inch wheels and the ride height is purfect for me. Not too low but low enough for it too look good. Too me it looks like it could have been lowered like this in the factory, which is what I wanted. I went for a 40mm drop but also I used 10mm lowering top mounts, so the car sits 50mm at the front and 40mm at the back. If I were to get some different springs I would get a 60/40 drop.I got adjustable dampers, if I were to get different ones I would go for non-adjustable (but probably still Koni)I have the shocks set at maximum stiffness and the ride is very comfortable for a lowered car with polybushes and ARB's but still stiff enough to handle very well. The front shocks can be adjusted easily from under the bonnet but the rear shocks have to be taken off the car to be adjusted. ( I was not very happy to find this out after purchasing them.)What I have learnt recently is that adjustable shocks are not what we think they are. They are not supposed to be adjusted any time you like. You are supposed to put them on a dyno tester and tune the shocks to match each other perfectly. Once they are matched they should not be adjusted again. The adjuster is never accurate so without a dyno tester it is impossible match them perfectly. When you buy a set of shocks (with the same model number) they are never 100% matched. This is fine for normal road use but when you are competing on a track and every 10th of a second matters, this is when you need perfectly matched shocks. My advice (if not competing on a track), go for 60/40 drop on the springs and Koni NON-adjustable dampers. This should cost you a lot less than £
