bungy 2
What are people's views on turbo oil supply and return lines? -3an for supply and -10an for return? What about restricting oil flow/pressure to save turbo oil seals, reduced from main engine oil pressure?
legvw 0
No need to restrict the supply unless your going to run a ball bearing turbo, have the oil return as big as you can make it- I think mine is 20mm I.d. Not sure what that equates to!
AJmk2 2
On my 12v I had lots of oil pressure problems from the supply, pretty sure you can get the feed onto the turbo which has the correct restrictor size built in. That was on a journal setup.
bungy 2
I went for black textured and there is a possible group buy if enough interest. I'll post a separate thread to see.
VIW28 29
I did the oil lines for mine yesterday Bungy. I went with 1/4" bsp unrestricted feed and a 16.5mm ID return which I was able to get from a tractor in work believe it or not lol, correct flange and all on it
spadam 7
Group buy would be good i have a few bits in mind. All depends if theres enough intrest

Did you mount the drain flange high up on the sump?
VIW28 29
Haven't just done that yet as I want to see where the driveshafts sit and in my case they need shortened on one side and lengthened on the other bit yes, it will be as high as I can get it to make sure it has every cance to get away from the turbo
bungy 2
It's been slow going but I managed some more on my turbo manifold today. The wastegate flange is positioned and tacked in place. For the transition to the turbo I had to make some custom box section and there is still loads of work to scribe it to size and then the final fit to position the turbo as it is tight for space. spadam 7
Nice looks like a work of art. What size turbo you going to be using
bungy 2
What size turbo you going to be usingI'll let you know when I see the results.
bungy 2
2 steps forward and one step backWastegate flange needs rotating and the trial fit today showed just how tight for space it is. Should be able to keep all the oem heat shields though.
spadam 7
You going to use a 38mm wastegate?

bungy 2
You going to use a 38mm wastegate?I already have the wastegate and it is 38mm. A bit of a compromise for it's position so I hope it will work well.
