Mcdubber1 0
I've got a problem with my car again. It doesn't seem to be firing on all cyliders. I've done the usual, plug leads, coilpack and had the plugs out checked. cleaned and changed them around but the problem is still there.I've had the plugs out a few time and on previous occassions some them have had unburnt fuel on them, mainly the 3 on the front bank. But more recently when i removed the plugs they were all dry but with the car still running the same which is baffling. When listening to the engine idle it doesn't sound too different but you can hear it through the exhaust and obviously it's noticeable when driving which it hasn't done much of, it's sat in my drive for about a month now only moving when on test drive.I've checked all the wiring and connectors that i can see and they all seem to be fine. I'm leaning towards maybe an injector problem or maybe some other fuel related problem but i'm really not that sure.I should also add that the problem came about one day when i was doing something under the bonnet. It started to rain quite heavy so i took cover in the garage but left the bonnet open. After the rain had stopped i finished what i was doing and then started the car up and that's when i discovered the problem. I put it down to water in the plug holes or on the coilpack and that all would be fine once it dried out but i'm still stuck with the problem. If anyone could advise me on what else i could maybe check or what it could be that would be great. Thanks
Threadbare 0
I did have a misfire problem after a service by a non vw garage. Turned out to be the HT leads not fully seated on the plugs. Check all are clean and fitted correctly. Plugs can bve a problem but last a long time in my experience.
Mcdubber1 0
The plug leads are new so clean and i've checked many times to make sure they're fitted properly. The plugs have only done around 4000 miles and look fine. Thanks for your input though mate.
