VRmonster 1
As some of you know i have been fettling with my VR6 turbo for ages and im now at the final hurdle, fitting the remote servo. i went out in my MK2 golf driver (bought as a runaround for work), i traveled to darlington, around 15 miles from my home, to get a replacement remote servo after the 1st one i got was faulty. about 2 minutes from the shop my MK2 started coughing and spluttering, and the oil light came on and it started bizzing. i thought hmm, must be low on oil. as there was a morrisons petrol station about 300m away i thought, "ill make it there and top the oil up".she then decided to kick heaps of black smoke from the exhaust and a massive bottom end rattle. i thought oh shite, the engines gone. i pulled up in the petrol station and strolled around to my bonnet expecting a load of smoke, upon lifting the lid i was engulfed by flames, lol. nearly took my eyebrows off. a quick "holy shit" and a sprint for a bucket of sand (didnt click on about the fire extinguishers all around me) followed. luckily a guy pulled up about to use the pumps and jumped out with a fire extinguisher in the boot. the fire brigade then turned up and cleaned my bay with the most powerful jetwash ive seen. lol. so unfortunately i dont have an engine anymore. most cables and pipework is damaged. luckily it didnt get to the fuel pipe directly. just the vacuum pipe which i believe started the fire with the heat of the oil-less engine. anyway, no-one was hurt, just a little crap ya pants moment. lol.[ Edited ]

cliveyp 0
i'm not one to chuckle at ather peoples mis-fortune, especially when it could have been so much of a dangerous situation. But i do have to admit how funny it is that the place you decide to stop and find out that the thing has caught fire, is a bloomin garage forecourt!!Still gutted to hear it though mate, glad no one was hurt! VRmonster 1
so, does anyone want a 1.8 driver, in good nick, apart from a few hoses and pipes are burnt, and engine will probably need a rebuild or replacing. you can have it for £100 ish.thought about the vr engined mk2 but its just not cost effective as i dont need the car anymore. ill probably just strip the main parts off it and scrap the rest, sooo.BREAKING MK2 1.8 DRIVER. PM me if you need anything, lol.
