DommyVR6 0
my vr6 just does not handle very well, more like a wallowing hippo. both rear axle bushes have just been changed that made a big difference. i have a recent new set of shocks and springs from venom but it just not handle anywhere near my last mk3 did. would strut braces make much difference. binliner 0
what shocks n springs did you get? Have you had the alignment done since fitting them? ARBs would make more difference than strut braces
badboyV6 4
What did you have before, if it was a GTI then that partly explains why. The VR6 is a lot heavier up front than a GTI and isnt as nimble but lowered with a decent kit it should make a BIG difference. What suspension kit did you get? I havent got uprated anti roll bars on mine and its still very chuckable.
MrBen 0
I've recently moved from a Mk3 GTI to a VR and the VR certainly feels very different due to the weight over the front wheels. That said, I find the VR handles very nicely, it's got Koni shocks, Eibach springs and Eibach ARB's, which I'd throughly recommend!
DommyVR6 0
i just brought the cheapest kit which venom motorsport provide to see me through untill i get my highline as my standard suspension had hadit. it did make a difference but i now know not to recommend that kit if you've got a vr6. ive heard many people rate the koni shocks eibach springs setup is there much difference between these and a set of coilovers, just thinking ahead! MrBen 0
I think you'd have been better off just buying new standard dampers than a cheap and nasty suspension kit. I've made the same mistake in the past and ended up with a horribly bouncy GTI!!As for the Koni/Eibach setup, it's generally accepted to be the best conventional setup, and unless you want height adjustability there's no real reason to go for coilovers. I know the current vogue is for coilies, but this is generally to do with being able to muck about with the ride height for looks, rather than anything to do with improving the handling!! AntWhiting 0
ive got FK high sport coilovers on my VR and i must say that the ride is more comfortable than on standard suspension but they just dont stiffen up the ride as much as i would of liked.i do have a strut brace on the way to stiffen up the chassis and im also thinking about a rear brace.ive heard that the eibach range work well with the whole Mk3 range.i just love the versatility of having adjustable suspension as i can lower it as far as it will go if im at a show and then raise it to a suitable level when im driving normally
seadog 0
i have koni top adjustables and eibach 40mm springs, eibach strut brace and arb`s, and fully polybushed. i`d rate my them very well, feels solid and safe cornering at speed. as long as my tyre pressures are ok. if there low then its a rough ride. acf8181 0
from what i've read strut braces are supposed to do bugger all on mkIII's as its quite a still chassis as it is. same with mkII's, but mkI golfs really gain from having one as they're front end is quite flimsy apparantely.i have a bilstein sprintline kit, powerflex bushes, and cutom camber/tracking settings on my vr6 and it handles really really well....rides too harsh though. mightyvr6 0
Koni ta's and h@r springs is the best setup as you get a stiffer chassis whilst retaining decent ride quality. H@r springs are specifically designed to handle the vr6's heavy nose.
