VR6Pete 1,455
obvously your address is correct, but you can say try your luck and reply saying that no one of that name lives at the address it was sent too! just say you dont know who was driving the car at the time of the offence

andy 0
It won't hurt to return it saying no one of that name exists at that address, its perfectly true. However they can still issue another one to you subsequently. I tried the I'm not sure who was driving excuse and they said that the photo was taken from behind so it was therefore the owners (my) responsibility to name the driver or accept responsibility. I have to say overall its better (as acf says) to take the punishment, if its your first ticket your insurance shouldn't go up. One ticket doesn't really affect you other than the fine, which most people don't object to anyway.
badboyV6 4
Ive heard from various sources that if you dont know who was driving the car, the owner of the car becomes directly liable for the offence......
seadog 0
cheers folks. think i mite just like it and lump it. it has been 4 years without any points or fines so i suppose its only fair, i`ve done my fair share of speeding. was just curious though incase it was a dead cert i could get off with it. thanks
antera309 3
There used to be a "dead cert" loophole that could get you off a scamera fine, but this has now been closed, I'm afraid. With the fine likely to be multiplied by 3 if it goes to court, the best option is to just pay the fixed penalty unless you know that you're innocent. mk3anni 0
two things :* you must have recieved it within 14 days of the offence - 1st classWRONG.The FIRST NIP (in this case to the last owner) must arrive within 14 days. Any subsequent NIP has no time limit. However, if you fight it, and they fail to get you to court within 6 months of the offence the case must be dropped.
Slim 0
It's worth sending it back anyway, there's always a chance that it'll get caught up in someone's pile of paperwork and get lost. Even if you have to pay it, never make it easy for them.
dub_weiser 0
I got caught by a Spec camera last year twice, same camera diff cars two weeks running. Is a b1tch but unless you can get someone to take the points for you not much else you can do, I searched hard and low. Maximum fine is a grand plus costs or £60 and three points. Awkward one but you have to get on with it. And its true camera and police are a55holes in these matters. Its a money making scheme and I wonder how much of it is pumped into back into the community....oh yeah £0Sorry have gone on a bit, reliving the nightmare
MK2R32 0
I was told buy an insurer that for every 3 point on your licence your insurance premium will go up by 25quid. Don't quite know if it's true. Please enlighten me if anyone knows..
badboyV6 4
ive got 6 points and still paying relatively feck all!
Ferrari VR6 0
Got my first 3 points and £60 fine last week, caught doin 47mph in a 40 zone, spose in a way i was lucky cos i was going a fcuk site faster before i saw the trap :@ dunno what the fine and point structure is but i think that if you were doin 80 in a 40 you'd probably get spanked harder? anyone know? Desire68 0
From what i remember, anything 30mph and above over the speed limit for that road is an instant court appearance, and a court appearance means a BAN!!unless you can prove that you need your licence for your wortk and even then you can only ever use this excuse once,And yeah,i went to court in 97 for doing 73 in a 40 and got banned for 14days and fined 50pounds(let off lightly really!!) A courrier was there for a speeding offence and tried to use the job excuse but the judge said that he had used this excuse previously so he too got banned!!Mike.
Seademon 0
I was caught just before I got my VR6 doing 67 in a 40 - got 3 points but I had checked how much the insurance would be on my VR6 any how and it only went up £50 which I didnt mind too much. 2 of my friends have both been caught speeding and their cases went straight to court as they were well, welll over the limit - 1 recieved a date, turned up & it was adjurned (spell check) the next time he went it was 1 day over the 6 months so he got away with it & the other mate never heard a thing & this was over 18 months ago!I think Mikes right - I was told by the police that if I was doing over 70 Mph in the 40Mph zone it would have gone straight to court.
