breeza18 0
well went to stealth this morning, had a good drive down and back considering its a friday! Vince was very helpfull and full of knowledge as others had said. we got the car strapped down and it made....205bhp flywheel corrected177bhp at the wheels.198 lbft torque.i was hoping for the numbers to be a little higher but cant describe how different it is to drive!! is so much more responsive and eager to rev. also when not driving like a loon its much smoother and on/off throttle has also improved alot. so the verdict is smiles all round from me. i'd recomend stealth to anyone after todays vist.oh and engine spec is...2.8 obd1drc 268 cams6 branch manifold open air filter.cheers ash
VR6Pete 1,455
Don't get bogged down with figures it's how it drives on the road that counts
breeza18 0
thats what i kept saying to myself as he was mapping it, on the road it is completley different drive! im chuffed
FishWick 21
Glad you like the results and Vince's services :-) OBD2 2.8s tend to find a little more power because of the better management, but 205hp from an OBD1 2.8 is still a good result. They're only 174 as standard (when new!) remember, so you're up 31 ponies. Nice :-)
breeza18 0
i did notice i have more power at the wheels then they had a the fly new im happy with it (for now at least) gonna work on loosing some weight from the mk2 and better handling before the quest for more power,

craggsy 91
hi i need a remap really i had a few mods done' date=' who knows how long it takes to remap a golf vr6 odb1[/quote']It takes as long as it needs to get it right mate
breeza18 0
at stealth the other week i was there for about 3 hours, but the mapping took about 1 and a half, its a good mornig or afternoon down there but deffo worth it
vwdom 0
yours is pretty much the same spec as mine obd1 etc but mine had 206hp 205lb ft must be a obd1 thing lol
breeza18 0
there good numbers for obd1, any other trick bits you have? my cylinder head is a little tierd so hoping a fresh one with maybe a bit of porting is in sight, should help a little as i read the heads on these are a bottle neck?? but over all im happy how it drives, its deffo quicker than my mates mk2 vr but on paper theres not much between us, on the road is a different story tho
vwdom 0
oh yer forgot about my grant motorsport ported head, amd throttle body, 2.9 inlet lol i am going obd2 now though as they seem to make 10hp more than mine with less mods + plus i am turboing it:)
breeza18 0
id have thought bigger numbers with the grant head? whats been done to it? might not bother with mine if its not gonna open it up abit!! how hard is it to go obd2? sureley you'l have to change your throttle body and inlet mani?
aaronmk2 3
The grant motorsport head probly makes a difference but bigger valves are the key with the vr6 head porting on its own won't make massive gains I could be wrong though lol
breeza18 0
yeah it must be helping im sure but cosidering how bad the head is i thought it would free up alot more? ive seen the big valve heads but for the price my as well save a little more and go Fi
Ben Seabrook 4
The grant motorsport head probly makes a difference but bigger valves are the key with the vr6 head porting on its own won't make massive gains I could be wrong though lolno your right mate they dont make a huge difference tbh
FishWick 21
Yeah don't bother with gas flowing, just gasket match the intake ports and that's it.Bigger valves are the key as already mentioned. I have this +1mm kit (Turbo spec) in my head and his cams as well and it's superb. Made hell of a difference. http://www.spturbo.com/onlinestore/index.php/vw/mk3/vr6/engine/cylinder-head-valvetrain/stainless-high-flow-intake-valve-39mm-47.html
vwdom 0
yer i don't think the throttle body or head makes much difference though vince did say it seemed very torquey for a 2.8 it makes more torque at tick over than my abf made peak lol wether thats todo with the head i don't know?
The Monk 50
They're very good figures, especially at the wheels when you consider you've only put in cams and a 6 branch. My VR with filter and exhaust was only chucking out 143bhp ish at the wheels, so that's a brill result for your car, especially in a MK2 chassis. Power to weight too.
