candleman 0
My disc have bitten the (brake) dust, and I've been quoted £295 for grooved discs and greenstuff pads from AMD, very nice i'm sure. But, as I don't often hammer the car I could well just buy the standards bits and fit then myself. any suggestions on decent online places to buy the bits? and is this likely to turn into a nightmare I wish I never %-6 started?[ Edited ]
shail 0
Try gsfcarparts.com They are generally cheap for most VW parts.
pete8tch 0
i have the usual zimmerman drilled discs and pagid fast road pads from e.c.p. they work well and are about £120 i think. easy to fit mate.
Slim 0
Aye, as long as the bolts come off ok, then the job's pretty easy.
acf8181 0
the best discs are prob vw's own ones....thats what all the trackday peeps use (grooved and drilled in my eyes take size away from the braking surface).if you don't overheat standard pads get vw pads....no point having the disadvantages of fast road pads if you don't need the advantages of them (the advantages of FR pads are that they resist heat better, but the downside is they are crap when cold)
six appeal 53
I've always found the genuine eqiupment pads and disc to be the best value combo. set on my VR and GTI's. Some of the GSF and Europarts ones can warp (discs) and pads liable to fade on heavy repeated braking from my experience. (Particuarly on my Mk2)
candleman 0
Got the vw parts (£170) and fitted no probs, apart from bolts being a bugger to undo!
