does anyone know the solution to my problem? have today put in my hella quads, but when switched on i only get side lights and main beam , no dip on both lamps. bulbs checked and okay, reverted back to the mk.4 style and they work okay again? looking in the fusebox/relay panel, number 10 relay has nothing in it apart from a bridge for the fogs, is that right? i have been led to believe that there should be a plug or relay in there as well. i know the bridge is only to make main and dip stay on together, but would this effect the dipped hella's? i dont know, stumped now, any help out there?

Matt my car came with Hella quads from new and had a link in there already! Its a different link to the Mk4 style one and links 2 different slots in the number 10 postion!

I now have some modded R32 angels and when the angel eyes are on in sidelight the projector main lights come on dimely too!

From the German instructions it looks like a plug lead should be in there too! I'll check the postioning of my Hella quad link and let you know! ( your welcome to it as I no longer have them!)

So in summary:

Ignition off/sidelights on: just angels on.

Ignition on/sidelights on: angels and dim. main beam!

Its baffling me!

Matt, I've found that some UK cars have a powered dimmer with the sidelights on. This is powered by a resistor under the drivers side wheel arch!

Disconnected it and now mine are all sorted.

I recon yours is down to the link not being in, or in the wrong place. As I said before your welcome to mine or very easy to make one?

simon, sorted the dip lights out. was the bulbs in the end, just thought that they were the main beam part of the quads not dip. someone had connected the loom plug for the lights round the wrong way so main bulbs were on with sidelights and dip was on with main beam. still got the prob of dip going off when main beam is on tho. have a jumper bridge already in fuse box, and got a different one that came with the quads, both make no difference to the main and dip staying on together. supposed to be some sort of relay over the top of them, but not sure waht for? any ideas?

Matt have you got MSN?

Simonthripp@hotmail.com

If so add me as its easier to chat on there about it? There are 2 different links for different lights which go in 2 different ways! Very confusing! LOL. It may also be down to it not needing a link at all, or this powered dip resistor that was causing me problems.
