ukstacks 1
Hey all just got a new VR6 auto from a friend of a friend for just under £700Posted this previously in another thread but obviously was the wrong place It drives like a beaut and has been well looked after. The guy said he added an induction kit which gave it an extra 5-10bhp was just wondering what people would recommended adding considering its an auto.Budget up to £500 not looking for massive amounts of extra bhp but a lil bit would be niceCheers ladies and gents
Antihero1981 8
looks good.....filter and exhaust are always usually first options ,or you could get some coilovers and drop it a little?many options , have a search on threads about mods....
chief ka kar 0
As above with maybe a remap
jims13 6
well, cams and a remap .. should see you at just under 500 , depending on where you get them from fyi, most induction kits do not add power , most lose it . hot air and all that . vw airboxs flow extremly wellsecondhand cams can be had under 200 pounds, and a map circa 200-300 depending on if you need the cu socketing or not . ukstacks 1
@jim potterThats what i wasnt sure about, what does an induciton kit actually include/ do Sorry if i sound like a noob just very new to car modifications.Cheers for the replysAlso another question albeit stupid one, VR6 arent supercharged are they and how easy would it be to do? jims13 6
induction kit could be bracket and a cone filter.. thats the kit ..other people buy a cone filter and make there own bracket.pthers buy a replacemnt performance element for the standard air box.. when push comes to shove its what sort of sound you want .. cone filter can be noisy, panel filter less so.superchargring aint to hard if you know who to bring it to . FishWick 21
That transporter wing vent would be good to feed air into a stock airbox for Turbo use :-)If you want to spend 50 sheets, I would refit the factory airbox and replace all the chassis bushes to sweeten up the handling. I'm afraid 50 notes isn't going to give you much extra grunt as it's an Auto. They tend to sap too much throttle response anyway.
thesurgeon 51
You'll get through brake pads quicker with an auto - no engine braking - so go for some fancy discs/pads aswell.
Antihero1981 8
mmmmm kev you should come in mine.......throttle respons is pretty good for an auto...with mods....brembo discs and green stuff pads lasted over 2yrs so far and thats not normal driving either...300bhp through standard auto box and still going
FishWick 21
Hmmmm, interesting! I must admit, I haven't driven a VR6 auto, but plenty of BMW autos and they were all much slower than their manual counterparts! How many speeds is the VR6 auto box?
thesurgeon 51
Just the four. 1st is good for 40mph, 85 in 2nd, 110 in 3rd, not sure what 4ths top end is. Gearbox has a sport/economy setting it learns from your right foot.
FishWick 21
Hmmmmm..... My left knee doesn't half ache when sat in traffic. All that up and down action on an uprated clutch and all that.As I'm nearly 40, an auto box sounds might appealing! Probably not too bad to retro fit.Only thing is, can it handle turbo grunt? Antihero1981 8
Turbo i am not sure about , the power from a charger is a bit more smoother than the kick from a Turbo .....only 1 way to find out hey! lol i built mine for daily driving so supercharger on a auto box seems a bit more relistic , she does get used and abused and its taken everything i have thrown at itusing over drive gears i reckon it is quicker than manual , no clutch and you can select next gear with a push of a button!smooth and effortlesswill be better when i finish charge cooler and meth injection install
