hollandsd 0
Is it possible to buy an ecu from a breakers, change the chip to a reprogramable one and then replace the ECU in my car with it?The reason I ask is that Id rather not screw up my ecu by fiddling so having a modified one seperately.CheersDan
FishWick 21
Yep, just so long as the ECU you use is exactly the same as your existing one, right down to the firmware revisions etc etc.
hollandsd 0
whats the best way of identifying the Firmware revision .etc is it printed on the chip itself or on the outside of the ecu box?
FishWick 21
It's mainly for OBD2 you need to worry about that. OBD1 will be easier as there's only 3 lots of ECUs IIRC, AG distributor, AG coilpack and CP immobiliser. But just make sure the numbers on the ECU sticker match yours ;-)
hollandsd 0
Well I got an OBD2 engine so, itll have to match. Will take a look tonight and then see what I can buy.Taking the car for a rolling road session on satruday so will see what the difference is between stock ECU this time and my home modded and remapped or chipped ECU.Dan
