ukstacks 1
Hi allJust a small problem. Got a small crack on the side skirt neat the back wheel on the drivers side.Would it be better to try and fill it in or does anyone know where we could get a spare side skirt? (just a pain to colour match)Cheers
Lukey. 381
you must either have aftermarket skirts or theyve been painted then as the stock ones are textured black plastic. you should be able to pick up a stock section of skirt from a breakers. But if yours is either aftermarket or custom itd probably be a better option to try and fix it, as like you say it might be a pain to colour match
ukstacks 1
cheers by the looks of them they are stock ones. Ive added some pics but the crack has got a bit bigger and when you step out of the car you can easily clip it.
richievr 1
they are indeed factory skirts.just go to vw dude, they are about 30 quid ish each side and just gently pull off and push back on again.. start at the back edge and work your way forwards to get it off, then tuck the front end in and work backwards to get it off... simples!! andynick69 0
Not sure m8let me know if u want part number
Lukey. 381
youll be lucky to find those parts in good nick in a breakers, thought you meant the actual bottom parts, those strips are buggers for doing that, when you take them off the rear finishing tabs are connected but the fronts are seperate, so if the fronts are in good condition then peel them off from the back and slide them out of the fronts, saves a few quid. Youll need to drill out the rivets on the back sides so get the accompanying black rivets from VW too they wont corrode
ukstacks 1
@andynick69yes please mate part number would be useful @lukeyoh thought it was all the same? ye fronts are fine its jsut that one bit on that one side. Thought they would be simple to come off and just replace with a new one?

Lukey. 381
each side is made up of 5 parts,a base that runs the length of the side, a front and back big section that hang off this base, a finishing strip with the back tab attached to it which goes onto the top of the 2 big sections and the front tab for the top finishing strip. You need the top finishing strip1H0 853 985 Driver Side1H0 853 986 Passenger SideThey are sided and are not interchangeable, the top weather seal would be on the bottom if you got the wrong side, and you dont want thatI just asked for the black rivets at the same time i didnt have the part number for them but they are in the same picture so any monkey would put 2 & 2 together
