Sidhu88 1
Not being a retard before i get flamed. however, a mechanic suggested that im allowed to drive my car around after failing an mot as long as im going somewhere for the car to be repaired and as long as its within the 10 day period after the test date. can anyone confirm this? if it is so then what are the rules surrounding it? i.e. u can only drive a car without tax/mot if ur on the way to an mot garage with a booked appointment
golfrabbit33 0
booked mot appointment only ! dont risk anything else
VR6Nat 9
yeah as above, only drive to a pre booked appointment so if they ring to check you are booked in then they cannot do anything. if you are just driving around they will do you for it.
Sidhu88 1
but then in terms of getting things repaired how am i supposed to go about moving the car around?
UnitedMotorsport 55
If when your car fails it MOT, it has days left on the current certificate, you can drive where/when ever you like, upto the date on the current certificate. If when your car failed its MOT, there is no current valid certificate, then you can only drive to where the car is BOOKED IN to have REPAIRS. If you drive from your house to the shops on the way to where your car is booked in, and the police stop you outside the shop, they are with in reason to report you.
Ian_rogers 0
I think you'd get away with takin it to get repaired if u can prove that's where ur goin
golfrabbit33 0
make sure you speak to whoever (mot/repairer) and get them to make sure its in the book and to possibly expect a call to check this fact. and no popping to the chippy
