Sidhu88 1
Wondering if anyone could shed some light. Bought a decat off the bay a few weeks back, went to fit it yday and the backbox for the milltek won't go on, it was right up against the heatshield and wasn't sittin in the recess properly. about 2" to the right of it (looking from the rear). My initial thoughts were the decat being too long, I saw somewhere that someone had a problem with theres being slightly longer than it should of been. The center silencer seemed to sit a bit further back than it should of been, the rubber mounts were at a slight angle backwards towards the rear of the car. On the other hand the guy fitting it seemed to be a complete cowboy and im unsure whether its him just being a retard. If it is the decat, anyone know how much to trim off the end of it? spindat45 0
The decat is longer than it needs to be so it can be cut to fit. Different exhaust systems will require different lengths. It would be hard to say exactly how much to cut off but if you lay it next to your old cat or better still measure it then cut the de cat to size (slightly longer just incase) you should be somewhere near the correct length. The "fitter" should have realised that it needed to be cut down imo.I have an ebay decat on mine with a Miltek cat back exhaust and it did take a few tries to get it right and to have the tail pipes flush with the rear splitter. Lukey. 381
remember the golden rule when cutting the decat down to size, you can always take more off but you cant put it back on! cut a bit less than you think each time. saves much headaches lol
Sidhu88 1
cheers fellas, was pretty sure it was that. as i said the guy was a bit of a tard. he left my car running for an hour before he even started the job. i'll ask the next guy to do a cm or so at a time. don't have the cat anymore so unsure of lengths. either way the old exhaust was rusted/blown to fudge and was useless. Timah89 1
the reason he may have left the car running for so long before was to get the exhaust really hot so that it would help with removing the bolts as i noticed when doing mine last week. how much you pay for the non Milltek de-cat as i just got teh Milltek one for £80 and saw others for £50 and could not see the point in not going for the Milltek knowing that its quality and fit would be perfect.
