cliveyp 0
Which grommet in the bulkhead have you used to pass your power wire though and how easy was it to get to?? The only one i can locate on the inside of the car seems to be the one used for the main loom through from the engine bay on the passengers side and is covered completely in the bay by an angled boot (this is the one just above the chassis leg on that side, and seems to be sealed around the cables that already pass though it). I've found one under the expansion tank where my alarm cables run through, but i can' tlocate this one inside the car at all!!
binliner 0
do u mean the one behind the strut top? I used that, made a small hole in it to push the cable through, then theres a grommet behind the pollen filter... I pushed my cable through that hoping for the best and it appeared nicely coiled on the passenger mat!
shail 0
I put mine through a grommet located next to the pollen filter. i took the glove box out, and like binliner said, it managed to make its way into the passenger footwell by its self.
cliveyp 0
oooh, i'll try that one then. I didn't mean that one initially, but now you mention it, i have seen that one going through to the scuttle area, and did wonder if it was possible to find a way through into the passenger compartment from there.Cheers guys! andy 0
I used one on the actual vertical bulkhead, about a foot below the expansion tank, there were a couple of grommets already there unused, came through just above passenger footwell.

cliveyp 0
I must admit to not having tried what Binliner and Shail suggested as yet. Hoping to get onto it either tomorrow afternoon or over the weekend to get it sorted. Might as well wait until the ECU arrives before i deal with taking all that plastic off under the windscreen! jfb1977 0
For your info guys I (sadly) went out and bought the Max Power guide to ICE for this problem - as it features running the power cables on a MK3 golf - perfick! Shows you which grommet to use etc. Also shows you how to hide your tweeters under the factory speaker covers etc. Helped me a lot!
binliner 0
lol I've got that book... quite handy actually
cliveyp 0
Dammit, i never even thought of that! Never mind, sorted the problems now i think. Well, the power cables is through well enough, bu the MDF adaptors that i've made for the tweeters are a little suspect. How does it say to mount them in there??
antera309 3
I used one on the actual vertical bulkhead' date=' about a foot below the expansion tank, there were a couple of grommets already there unused, came through just above passenger footwell.[/quote']I used one of the unused grommets on the actual bulkhead too (on Mk3 Golf VR6 w/o air-con, and again on my cabrio). There are two to choose from - the lower one comes out just below the heater box on the passenger side.[ Edited Sat Mar 19 2005, 11:30PM ]
