trackman 0 Posted February 24, 2005 Report Share Posted February 24, 2005 What with getting back under the bonnet recently and getting my hands dirty, I've been mulling over ideas for garage-type businesses and even considered this very idea.Now I've come across this thread, it sounds like there's certainly a market out there. It's just a case of working out if the market is big enough in one area to make it viable.There's not many people on this forum from my area, but we do have a bit of a Saxo / Subaru cult thing going on.I think we might be onto something, especially in areas where there isn't much in terms of specialists. Bampson 0 Posted February 25, 2005 Author Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 the problem is insurance .. i have been speaking to people since the start of december 04 and no one is willing to take on the risk .. they claim too much can go wrong that i would not be able to control .. i'm still tryin tho .. antera309 3 Posted February 26, 2005 Report Share Posted February 26, 2005 You will definitely need insurance against the building getting burnt down etc. , but a professionally-worded disclaimer form should mitigate you against personal injury liability, which is probably the main worry of the Insurers you've spoken to thus far. I've been told previously of disclaimers not being worth the paper they're written on because of overriding laws etc. Link to post Share on other sites
Bampson 0 Posted February 26, 2005 Author Report Share Posted February 26, 2005 the insurance people reckon the disclamer is not worth the paper it is wirtten on .. due to the the fact that i would owe any customer a duty of care and that would superceed the disclamer... we are looking at another angle i will let you guys know when i get it sorted ...Mrben i did call the guy in scotland but he was abit cagey ..dont blame him to be honest ...
