VeedubVR 0
The mk3 has been sat on the drive unused since wednesday (got a new daily run around). When to start it today and it hesitated a bit, idled a little lumpy for a few seconds and then went back to normal. Checked the rear view mirror and saw a bit of blue smoke. It doesn't smoke when driving it around. Maybe if left on over run for a while but not plumes of smoke.Any ideas what's happened? I've never noticed smoke on start up before.Cheers
michael5556 247
Check the oil cap for Mayo?
Gazbarber1982 3
My mates used to blue smoke after over run and it was ok once the valve stem seals were replaced. Doesn't sound too good that it run a bit shit at first though. Could be water or oil in a cylinder if the head gasket has a small leak.
bungy 2
Blue smoke is burnt oil and if it did it on start up then it points to valve stem oil seals. If it is used daily does it smoke on start up or is it just after being laid up for a while?

Gazbarber1982 3
Get a mate to follow you, and see if it smokes if you let it over run and then put your foot back on the pedal. Shouldn't be any smoke but if stem seals are shot then you'll get a small puff of smoke.
