Timah89 1
Just changed my ABS pump to a new one that works and topped the brake fluid up after, everything looks fine, when i pump the brakes when the engine is off there is pressure there but as soon as the engine is running i have no brakes, brake pedal near enough drops to the floor with the lightest touch on it. What have i done wrong and how do i get some brakes back?????

legvw 0
Sounds like there is air in the system, i think the abs pump will need bleeding via vag-com, and possibly re-bleeding the whole system again.

Works for me.Again assuming the whole unit was replaced, you'll need to bleed all four brakes.Never had to bleed the ABS pump and that you'll need all four wheels off the ground apparently. OEM+ 1
hi, the brakes need to be bleed in a certain order, a pressure bleeder is best for this job as pumping the peadle can cause you to flip the seals in the master cyclinder
bungy 2
I've not bled the brakes on a VR but on other cars i've always used a pressure bleeder which works well although i've been told that a vacuum one is better.
OEM+ 1
ive heard this aswell an pressure kits can blow the lid off (not good)if your not carefull, just helfrauds sell a easy bleed kit for cheap
Gazbarber1982 3
Gunson eazibleed kit to be precise! They have 2 lids with similar threads in the kit. 1 fits and 1 doesn't! Keep your hose pipe close by to rinse off any brake fluid.
donpulsar 0
Did you use brand new fluid out of a sealed bottle or stuff from an already opened bottle...used oil out of an opened bottle and even tho the lid was on tight the fluid had gone crap and had not a lot of brakes! Swapped fluid and after re-bleeding brakes are nice n'sharp!
Timah89 1
nope i have not bled the brakes, it didnt lose too much fluid but it obviously lost enough to casuse an issue. I have a pressure bleeder at my parents so i know what my job is today then, VAGCOM can apperently bleed the pump too?!?!? Cant get my VAGCOM to work properly at the moment though. I'll bleed all the brakes today then and see how much that helps. Is there a order in which to do them,if so what?
finny 0
Passenger rear, drivers rear, passener front and then drivers front. Basically do brakes furthest away from master cylinder.Don't forget to check and keep topping up the brake fluid.
