Leftoutside 0
ive used the guid in the members section and unfortuanately that guy had it easy. im having trtouble sealing my thermostat housing and its really starting to annoy me cus if it aint sealed then im pretty much back to square one.so i bought a whole new housing and thermostat and 2 new o rings to go on the seal for the block and the thermo, ive even used gasket glue on the 3rd time out because it was still leaking. 4th time in and i though i had cracked it, every seal has pretty much got gasket glue to seal correctly, yet somehow i still have leaks. unbelievable. It doesnt seem to be coming from the crack pipe, which hasnt been replaced yet. only thing i can think of is to jubilee clip all the hoses tight and try and find any seals which may be still leaking, any advice? ian_GTI 0
When I refitted mine (also a brand new housing) it leaked from the housing and the headI took the coil pack off to get some room and there was a lot of build up of crap around where it needed to seal so I rubbed it down with a bit of wet and dry. Refitted and it was all good

Leftoutside 0
Well I did manage it in the end its still not 100% but to all that have this problem. Use jubilee clips on all the hoses, replace old hoses if necessary with newer ones and above all make sure that all the O rings are new if possible. Use gasket glue, dont go mental, but it does seem to improve and hasnt caused any problems that I know of. Finally, Start and run the car to operating temperature. The housing is plastic and so are all the seals so it made sense that they would need warming up to expand and completely seal everything. Like i said still not 100% seal but as near as makes no difference.
