Brake upgrade?

With 312 disc on the front or 330, can I upgrade the rears to 280mm? Or will it lock up and slide everywhere with better brakes on the rear

If you upgrade all four corners then it should be nice and equal.

However were are you going to get a 280mm setup

Most of the braking force is required up front but a balance is needed.

I wouldn't bother upgrading the rears unless your 4wd, look at a 4mo or r32, they run 256mm rear discs.

As bungy said, most of the braking is done up front in a fwd car.

the rears are more than adequate on the mk3 already, any bigger is not necessary.

If you want proof of this unplug your abs pump and go for a drive.

The fronts however, the bigger you fit the better the braking

Very true about the 4 motion etc. Just a am thinking of putting some 4 pot calipers on the front and probably 330 discs and didnt want the rear to be poor performing compared to the front plus they will look very small

I'm running 307mm rears and 358mm fronts on the R32

I am assuming you are running 18" wheels to fit those, suppose you at running a mk4 though. I will be running a mk2 Vr. So it should be fine to fit 280mm on rear or is most people saying don't bother?

depends if you like the back overtaking the front? if you do then put oversized brakes on the back

I will try them out and see how well they do, see if the 17s fit on the mk2 with enough clearance then will do test the braking.
