993turbo 0
Hi there.Ive been doing some searching on this topic. One of my VR6's, 93, does not want to change into reverse. It started being ''harder'' to get into reverse about a week ago, and now my GF reports that its impossible. So, after doing some searching I found that this is a cable operated system?I also found an ''adjustment procedure'' on this site: http://www.houseofthud.com/shifting_gti.htm can someone confirm that this is correct for my car?The gearoil is fairly new, and the other gears function just fine.Any input here before I get my hands dirty? Gazbarber1982 3
Mine used to do it and it was a bit of metal bent near the weight on the gearbox. Only when going for reverse. Get the missus to go for reverse whilst you have a good look round the weight. You'll see it moving when se goes for any gears.

DsH 2
have you sorted this? my car sometimes doesnt want to go into reverse, i think its the top cable isnt pulling the lever down far enough to put it i reverse, i've been told the cables just need tweeking, but they seem unaccessable, any ideas? 993turbo 0
Sure. Sorted. It was the clipthing that holds the upper cable to the gearshift mechanism on the gearbox that was broken off. Adjusting the cables is quite easy. you just need a 13mm wrench :-) its on the top of the gearbox.
