kentyboy 0
right, here goes.recently purchased a 95 vr in storm grey, the handbrake light kept coming on whilst driving, bought vag com, checked it out and it kepy saying rear abs speed sensor problem, found it odd as the abs light didnt come on..later found that somebody had cut the led for the abs and had bent the airbag one to sit between the two holes thus giving it an appearence it was working.well, soldered the led back on and thus, couldnt get the light to go out.vag comed it again and still showed rear abs problem.took rear brakes apart, and no abs rings were fitted,i fitted new ones and sensors, cleared the code down, light went out...took her for a drive, all was ok then the light came back on again, indicating rear right abs problem..cleared the fault code again and same happens again, have done this numerous times,it happens at varying mileages.i even swapped the wires over under the seat to see if it gave the same reading, and it did, rear right abs wheelspeed problem.why does it clear down and run ok for sometimes a short period, sometimes ten or fifteen miles...heeeeeeelp.. Gazbarber1982 3
Could be a faulty sensor. When I had a similar problem, it was my front abs sensor wire touching on the hot disc. Put it back in the clip and taped it all up and been fine since.
VR6Pete 1,455
Yep probably just a new sensor needed. Easy job to do.
