trackman 0
In what way won't it start.Does it turn over?Does it fire but then cut out?Have you connected the individual wires for the stereo or used a standard VAG block connector/loom?
cookiesvw 0
the stereo had already been changed prior to me having the car i am just augrading using an iso block and just plugging new one in and there is nothing happening to the car when u try to start i was driving it this morning
trackman 0
I guess when you say nothing, you mean no lights on the dash or anything. You've probably already tried disconnecting the stereo. Does anything else electrical work (ie central locking) that doesn't run through the ignition switch? Is it possible that you've left something on overnight and the battery's gone flat and the stereo change is just incidental?
trackman 0
Doh. You already said that you ran it this morning.
cliveyp 0
shorted the battery somehow?? Try arming and disarming the alarm/immobiliser and try again.

cookiesvw 0
yeah everything i did is back again and now nothing. where are the fuses in the engine
stu h 0
do you have a combined alarm immobiliser? if you disconnected the battery it'd be worth re-setting it. my old one went a bit mad when i disconnected the battery, just put the little key into the unit, turn it off and then back on again -usually sorted it out[ Edited Tue Feb 22 2005, 04:38PM ]
acf8181 0
most likely you've ran the battery flat. only other thing you could have done is blow a fuse, but if its the stereo the fuse you blow should not cause the car to not start.
antera309 3
There shouldn't be any critical wiring in the area of the dash where the stereo goes, so I doubt it's anything to do with wiring or connectors, although a short circuit somewere may be depleting your battery.Do you get the normal red lights (oil, temp etc) when you turn on the ignition? Do they go dim when you try to start the car?Check that your battery terminals are secure. The terminals on my 94 Cabrio have a habit of popping off when I tighten the retaining bolt too much...
