justarn 0
thanks for the good feedback,i'll get some engine pics soon, nothing special if anything a little untidy under there... had a few issues with coolant airlocks which i think ive sorted now (trolly jack and a steep hill), some water stainage that needs a good clean! other than that removed the plastics to see the polished obd2 inlet and 10mm blue ht leads...im wanting to get her lower but due to the wider vr6 running gear i cant drop the front anymore. i have two options either hack the arches to bits and fit the mk1 plastic arches in my garage or fit mk2 16v wishbones driveshafts and powersteering rack to bring it back in line...(the rear is spaced exactly to match the vr's geometry at the moment as its a mk1 rear beam)kinda like the wheels sticking out but plastic arches obviously hold water and crap against the arches???? J5KE F 0
How did you mate the subframe??
justarn 0
well tbh i didnt, i bought her on the 1st of jan this year overheating and in a sorry state.i can tell you how though, the front subframe hasa had some fab and bends upwards to bolt into the two large bumper bolts where the bumper slides into the chassi. the middle two are bolted to a fab'd cube shaped piece of metal that is welded to the inner wing. the wishbones bolt in to the area between the fire wall, holes were cut into the footwell to get access, one of which still needs plating over... the rear two line up with the box part of the floorpan and bolt in under the front mats... i have fitted a piece of angle between these two as the floor has bent up a little but i have further plans yet. simple as that really lol.i would never attempt this myself until my welding got better, little car was a steal tho at 1300 quid. the owner never told me it was overheating and gave me the ol im moving abroud line. she used to scrap the rear arches and torque steer everywhere until i fitted rear coilys. the engine was installed by a garage ive found out from a vid of it i stumbled upon on youtube the guy said it was out of a sharan, the garage went bust but the engine was bolted in so the last few owners have done a little each... the last mot inc 500 pound of structual welding, she's getting there now, ran a 14.6 at santa at 94... 2 sec flat 60ft and she was misfiring. cant wait to go back now shes running sweet.
